Why has there never been a popular top Holy tree talent?

Q u o t e:
Priests need a serious review, bump for hope and perseverance.

Yes, I agree with the OP that changes are needed.
Yes, the holy tree needs a review and many of the comments here are constructive and warrant a solid review.

I have lots of priest friends as I play this game to heal. However, I do disagree that the priest class needs "utility". Priests are not a utility class. Utility classes, like warlocks and hunters, have to bring something to the table because without utility they do less (dps-wise) to the overall construct of a group or raid.

The reason for this is simple, if you have to form the most basic group on the part of tanking, healing, and dps (ideally) you'd have nothing but warriors, priests, and rogues/mages. That's what they were designed to be best at, that's how it works. I'm not saying that these classes are only for that, or that other classes aren't capable of their numbers, just breaking it down to base components for everyone.

If you were to give all priests all priest racials, or a subset of them (more racials), while I agree this would be awesome (Horde priests could use fear ward), other classes would definitely see this as a need for balance. The reason my class regrettably has no OOC res is because devs don't want to re-organize the healing classes' abilities. But I am all for geting priests more racials and concurrently getting an OOC res.

On a side note, I found these 2 posts by Tigole on the Raid Forum:

Q u o t e:
In an upcoming content patch (2.1.0) Warlocks will be able to use their succubus to seduce many humanoid creatures which are currently immune to charm effects.

Thats kool. They should be able to. But check this next one out (lol):

Q u o t e:
To clarify, the creatures do too much damage to allow them to be charmed (whether it be by a priest or by an engineer). Seducing them does not threaten the balance of the dungeon.

This will mostly effect heroics. And it only makes things able to be seduced -- it doesn't make anything immune to mind control that was previously charmable. It's not a nerf for priests. It's a bonus for Warlocks.

Hm, sounds like a familiar trend...

I just lost my good priest friend to boredom and frustration. We've been playing together since release and now he's done with WoW for good. Thought I'd mention that.

More Healing Stuffs: I have pages of this crap!!!

From EQ2:

Warden: Tranquilizing Spores: Places a buff on a target ally that sometimes causes them to regenerate when hit, 100% more effective if ally is under 50%

Templar: Involuntary Curate: Places a Debuff on the target that cuases them to sometimes heal and remove impairments from the target of their attacks.

Going right to where you belong, tyvm!!

Wearing this crap, and spec'ed shadow to grind till they fix Holy, and decide what they hell they really want from Discipline.

Thankful it is all comfortable... as it looks like a long wait.

Lots of great ideas here and thanks for starting it up Grimey.

Buff the healing priests and make them the best healers in the game as they were meant to be. Fix the discipline tree for survivability, and quit nerfing the shadow tree.

Give us some useful CC in the arenas, such as, shackle the living, as was previously mentioned. And since our psychic scream can be dispelled by everyone at least lower the cooldown on it. We can be poly'd by mages continuously, feared by locks continuously, sapped, stunned, slowed, frozen and on and on the list goes, give us some useful crowd control and as the other classes were buffed with. Maybe make MC useful in the arenas with the ability to use some greater spells on our enemies.

We love the game, but how much longer we'll play like this...

I love my priest, I don't want to play my alts or level a new toon to be a better healer. The priest class has been nerfed for too long by the buffs of the other classes.

If you want to keep Lightwell, how about giving it an aura where you just need to stand within 10 yds of it and maybe some mana regen in it as well. CoH, I liked the idea of the instant heal followed by a HoT.

Reduce the mana costs on the heals, increase the healing, much better mana regen, or reduce the time on each heal to give us the advantage over other healing classes.

As the fact remains, where healing is concerned, the priest class should be easily the best healing class. Priests are being replaced by shammy's, pally's, and druids due to the lack of inspiration and focus on our class. It's time to think about us again.

I agree with your reasoning about other classes utility being downgraded if priests were to get more utility. However, currently dranei priests already have Fear Ward and Symbol of Hope- AKA Mana Tide Totem. That's two highly viable abilities that Night elves for example, don't provide. And when you have limited slots as to who you can bring to the raid- any smart raid leader will boot the NE priest if it meant keeping the dranei priest. The root of the issue is the simple fact that not only do druids/paladins/shamans provide a lot of utility, but their healing efficiency is equal, if not BETTER than that of what a priest provides. Perhaps if they even start to make holy priests the "masters of healing" they were meant to be, we wouldn't even need to discuss utility. =P

And Rezzer, I love the Lightwell Aura idea. Definetely worth looking into.

Eq2:Defiler: Curse of shielding: debuff causes your victim to sometimes proc a warding effect on the target of its attacks

Vote Grim for dev... maybe he can get some real order in to the priest spells/talents instead of the pig%!%% we currently have.

I would highly recommend Nightshroud. But then again, as one priest mentioned before, it would be a cruel thing to do to force someone into becoming a priest developer. :P

i suggest changing pain suppression to a power word, maybe PW: Aegis that can be cast onto party members rather just urself. it shld also give a free PW:S to prevent death while u heal the target back up.

lightwell should maybe give an item that can be used like a healthstone. this item can dissappear after 3 mins. this way u wont have to go to the lightwell to use it, making it a tad more convenient
