It doesnt appear to take Primal Fury into account from what I can see. This is probably the hardest part of modelling cat DPS. Also a miss/dodge does not use up all the energy cost of a move (unless its a finisher) so that needs to be taken into account as well.

Well it was supposed to take into account Primal Fury, but going over the numbers I don't think I did it right. Also, I think you're right that I'm doing my enemy avoidance calculations wrong.

Does anyone know how to calculate the enemy avoidance?? Particularly in the energy cost. Man, I wish I had taken a statistics class, maybe next semester. In the updated version, I currently calculate the energy cost from missed/dodged/parried attacks only once per attack, though there is that small % chance that you could chain miss/dodge (5% of 5% for my stats, or 1/4 of a percent). While this will probably not make a significant difference in the calculations, it is none the less going to be incorrect, and that bothers me. >.>

I will make a post when I've uploaded the updated version

Not even a single download... Well, I've been tweaking it and will probably release an update soon. Next version will have the ability to compare 2 different sets of gear (was really easy, just copy and paste).

You have an error in your critical hit calculation. You take the crit chance in cell B3 to be the decimal value (as it is) however in the shred/mangle calculations you add a factor of 0.01 in again which is throwing off your numbers. This would explain why your numbers undervalue agi and crit compared to the numbers Emmerald has on his page.

Edit: After correcting the error on the spreadsheet your numbers come out almost exactly the same as Emmerald. I'd call that confirmation of a correct analysis of the stats. Well done :)

Your miss chance is likely incorrect as it seems to be a general consensus that for boss mobs the miss chance is 8.6% not 5%. This doesnt really affect the ratios, but it does make a difference on the DPS.

Thanks!

I originally had them as whole numbers and not decimals, but I changed it to a percent later on and apparently I didn't change all the crits (I fixed the white damage, but not the others).

The version you have doesn't take into account mob levels at all so the miss rate thing is moot there. I come from a rogue where we had so much hit we'd never miss bosses anyhow. So you take a 3% penalty against mobs 3 levels than you? Is that just mobs 3 over you or would 72s and 71s take a penalty (1% per level?)? And, if its 8.6% miss, is it 8.6% parry/dodge too?

P.S. Version .4 uploaded, lots of changes/corrections.

I've found that most people prefer not to have to download a seperate app for such a thing. A web application would be a lot more popular and more people would use it.

Which was why my (pre-BC) cat dps calculator at http://tangedyn.9tribes.net/cat-dps/catdps-calc was so much more popular than my simulator at http://tangedyn.pbwiki.com/Cat%20Simulator

Yea I agree. If you could post a web version that would be great.

BTW Tangedyn, I know your a busy boy and all, but have you considered rewriting your druid simulator for BC? I loved that thing.

I could certainly do that. I think I'll finish the spreadsheet first so I have all the formulas down though. As far as a webpage, can anyone recommend a free hosting service (preferably with asp.net server).

Of course I would like to rewrite my simulator and calculator for BC, however things weren't the same as they were when I first wrote my stuff. I have a guild to run now, part-time masters course, a SO, and more busy at work. Emmerald (from over at the Euro forums) has also done a great job continuing and updating my work. Also sadly, the druid forum community doesn't look like as friendly a place as it was pre-BC.

I would recommend not doing the calculations server side, but to do it client side using Javascript so it becomes mostly independent of host scripting capabilities. My more recent calculators have been using a simple client-side Javascript framework, such as the pretty well known (before Naxx became obsolete) Patchwerk damage calculator at http://tangedyn.9tribes.net/patchwerk/

I had a quick look through your formulas and it looks mostly correct except that it doesn't properly handle a crit when you are at exactly 4CPs, where the extra CP from Primal Frenzy becomes wasted. You might want to look at the source code for my old calculator or from Emmerald's spreadsheet to see how to handle that correctly.

Eh, I dunno that JavaScript will let me do everything I'd like to do. Actually, what'd be REALLY nice is if Emmerald could add some textboxes at the top of his site so we can enter custom stat point values. If he doesn't do that (I may go ask on his forums), then I'd probably want to figure out a way to do a page like that myself. There was an old rogue site (that's now way out of date because it stopped being updated around the time of aq40) that did this. That's my ultimate goal and I don't think I could really do that with JavaScript, and if I could, I don't think I'd want to, I never really liked it.

Version .51 uploaded (.5 had a small bug)

Glancing blows added (though the values will be changing next patch, anyone know what they are?)

8.6% miss rate on level 73 (I've heard varying reports on this, is it bosses only? does that include extra dodge/parry rate as well? does it have any effect on 71/72s? anyone got more information on this?)

Still to do

Raid buffs
Level 71/72 miss rates?
Above level parry/dodge rates?
