I've heard so many gossip stories most likely all fabrications about an epic flying mount for engineers. Can someone please confirm or deny this so i can drop engineering once and for all and go on with my life.

Nobody knows. There's a quest given from the flight master at Toshley's Station who sends you to Wildhammer with ideas of making the birds more "efficient" (rearview mirrors, armor, various electrical stuff attached). It stops at the Wildhammer dude. 60something silvers is your reward. Whether it's the beginning of the quest for a mechanical flying mount or just a "This is where you get a mount, people" hasn't played out yet.
Blizz did say they weren't done implementing the supposed planned Engineering stuff, so it's tottally possible this quest may be the start of it. Just not implemented yet.

Is this quest live, or on PTR? I've never seen it.

i just found this on accident. to say I was dissapointed when the quest just ups and ends, made me want to cry. talk about cruel and unusual, they know we've wanted one
The rumor was confirmed during an interview between Blizzard and Xfire during Blizzcon.
Engineers rejoice! You get an engineering-only (hopefully) flying mount to distinguish your prowess of the craft.

I did it on the live realms a while back. From Toshley Station Flight Master (or right beside him) to an abrupt end at the Shadow Moon Flying trainer who wasn't impressed by the idea of his mate in Toshley Station attaching things to his fine beasts.
