Is there any reason (other that oversight) that all gems are not Unique-equipped instead of Unique? It's pretty frustrating to have to replace your cool, unique gem with a trash gem so that you're able to pick up another one to put in upgrade gear (if you want to keep the old item still).

I cannot think of any harm to the game by changing all Unique gems to Unique-equipped, and I can think of a lot of benefits. Thoughts from the community?

Epic gems are so weak =/.

This's a pretty common idea for the unique gems from the groups I've done and people I've talked to. My guess is that unique gems and unique-equipped crafted items were seperate creations and the functionality just isn't in the game yet to do unique-socketed gems yet.

IMO, having Unique-Equipped capability phases out the need to have regular Unique.

It can't be that game breaking to have the same item sitting around, but I can see where ceratin weapons could get crazy if you can have two equipped.

Unless Blizzard just doesn't want people enchanting the same item with different stuff so that they can swap to fit the situation, but the whole idea of Unique seems dumb now that we have Unique-equipped.

Gems shouldn't be unique at all. The way "heroic" gems should have worked is to drop uncut gems, and give Jewelcrafters recipes to cut them.

The worst though is the damn Spirit Shard based Meta-gems, for which there is NO caster equivalent amongst non-Unique crafted metagems. So you have to either spend lots of gold to put a "placeholder" gem in your old helm or destroy it.....

Crafted gems aren't unique, only ones dropped in Heroic Dungeons and PvP rewards are. So no, this sort of discussion doesn't really belong in the Professions forum. Of course it doesn't necessarily belong here either but that is splitting hairs.

Cool deal. I kinda was guessing this was due to unique-equipped being a new-ish concept, and stuff just hadn't been adjusted to use it yet. Here's hoping all gems get converted, and not just new gems.

Please please please please make sure that the meta gems from Spirit Shard turnins get this treatment. Melee classes at least can get a slightly better version through a crafted gem, casters cannot get an equivelent metagem that isn't unique.

Oh good! So we're ruining the JC profession even more! Isnt it enuf that were the only profession where people can get their stuff from without coming to see us ever... i dont see any "enchants" dropping off bosses so i dont have to gather mats or goto an echanter... i dont see any "leg armors" or "spell threads" dropping from bosses so i can skip going to a LW/Tailor!

So by having all these so called "rare" blue gem patters all over the freaking server making them more than common you choose to destroy this profession even more?!?

Look at armory profiles belonging to people in high end raid guilds. Compare the number of blue gems that only jewelcrafters can cut to the number of "epic" gems that drop.

You realize that Tseric said certain gems would become Unique-Equipped not simply not Unique, it would be exactly the same as now, except you could actually GET another one to slot in a new peice of gear without deleting your old gear.

You can still only have one in your equipped gearset.

Why exactly are the epic gems from heroic unique in the first place?

They're not that great. Maybe 1 stat point better than a blue gem, maybe.
