Apologies if this has been copied before, but it makes an interesting listen, as a radio interview from Wowradio with the high end guild, Nihilum.

About 3/4 through the interview, the presenter asks the guys from Nil if any classes are screwed and need some serious work. Their immediate response: Priests, holy priests (not shadow, they're absolutely fine).

Also worth noting they take 3 paladins for healing, and only one holy priest in raids.

Seriously, when the people pulling of world first's, who know the game inside out, playing it on a daily basis, and deal with the most challenging content give an opinion, it might be worth listening. You can tell me, in the usual no-brainer, cheap shot response to "l2p", but that doesn't quite wash with the people at the highest point of achievement in WoW. This isn't about skill, it's about raw class balance.

Seriously Blizz, when the Main healing class is being outperformed by Hybrids in raw healing, let alone the vast, vast disparity in the survivabilty and versatility of the hybrids versus Holy Priests, coupled with the fact that our off-spec, as Shadow Priests, is out performing raw dps classes, and proving a shedload of support healing and mana to boot, you really need to step in and do some development work here.

This just looks plain sloppy at the moment.

As Pally Sucks says, priests DPS? While all the paladins heal? Nidhogg says the "utility + DPS" of shadow priests is something they can't pass up, so their priests are in shadowform (with one holy for spirit)

So um, Besides the fact that DNT shares the same oppinion, how many more hints do the developers need to understand that healing priests are broken?

If you took away Shadowform and Vampiric Embrace, no one would bring Shadow Priests either.

31 and 41 point talents may be a factor here. ;-)

I'm reminded of a comment from one of all three or so blue posts during our class review in 1.10, when they said, in response to posts about Lightwell sucking or something, that the developers are happy with the direction the priest class is going.

They don't care for feedback. They don't care what those playing the class think. They are focused on creating a game their way, regardless of what those paying to try to enjoy the game think. Some comments Kalgan has made in the past reflect this view; he asked once if a post developed games, and suggested that he (Kalgan) was right simply because he was a game developer. My question is, why does one have to attempt to understand the ins and outs of game development in order to even enjoy it?

My point is Blizzard is happy and content with the direction of our class, regardless of what those actually playing this class think. Even then, I think Blizzard is more focused on getting the Black Temple released for the .001% of the player base who might *gasp* not have something to do for 18 hours a day than at taking such information about priests to heart.

Throwing shiney new objects at a constant pace (despite only a very small fraction of a % actually getting) = profit for blizzard.

The holy tree does suck no revelation there.

1. Dump almost all your points in affliction
2. Stack a lot of +shadow dmg gear
3. Pull 3+ mobs at once nonstop while spamming dark pact from an imp that's only on auto-follow,
4. Profit.

Did you even listen to the interview? Its 90 minutes long so not everyone can sit and listen to it but it is by no means pre TBC. the majority of the interview is about TBC content.

None of this means priests are useless, they just don't fit into the min/maxer's way of thinking.

Not sure the game should be balanced around what the "world first" guilds think, they play the game in a completely different reality than the other 99% of the game population.

You must be thinking of a different interview. The recent interview mentions the latest nerf to gruul.

I too was happy to hear their quick "priests need help" response to that question.

umm, I dont know how you feel about this, but I really dont think its fair that druids and pallys can out-heal priests during a raid, or solo heal heroics easier.

Or maybe priests are intended to use PI or VE instead of main heal. Oh my....we are a support class for the hybrids.
