Does anyone else think there should be the ability to watch Arena battles? All the art prior to launching it showed people watching and cheering. I think it would be great to be able watch some matches.
Really??? No one else would like to watch? It seems like a waste to not be able to watch. Why not just call it team duels? Arena battles by their very name are meant to be watched by spectators.
Other cool features that could be added would be gambling on the matches (which I am sure would never happen due to the wide age range of the player base) and server wide tournoments or abilities to set up ladder matches for a weekend or something like that.
Funny I was thinking about the same thing today. Battlegrounds without audience =/= Arena.
I'm not intrested in doing Arena myself (as I don't have time for point grinding and would surely want to kill myself out of embarrassment), but watching those uber people do their things would be insanely fun.
I wonder if there's a way to implement this without causing lag on the player side.

Wow, I am excited for this as a possibility in the future! Any word on wether we could host server wide ladder tournys? Possibly all contribute gold or something as a team and distribute among the top three teams...Just tossing out ideas

Couldn't you license the technology from second life with their integrated TV in the game? They have the ability to insert youtube links and things like that into the television monitors.
You could have a useable item that would trigger an out of body experience, basically death w/o the full screen glow. It wouldn't be too taxing I wouldn't think on the server, and you could limit it to maybe 10-20 people watching at any time.

Wow! My first Blue response ever and I get an answer I like....
Not the same tho. If you watched alot of Warcraft or Starcraft replays, you might agree with me when I say that one of the most important features was being able to pause and move the perspective around to really take in everything that was happening.
I've watched some Arena matches videos now, and it's neat, but it's really hard to wrap one's head around the way the match is playing out without being able to change perspective and zoom to where the action is taking place.
Y'know, if you guys still had the part of the team that made Guild Wars, you just might have this feature already implemented.
Then again, GW did kinda suck.
You can only have one view angle, the viewer would hardly get an idea how the fight goes on.
It is good to show personal skills, but for arena, it is hard to show how players do team works.
In most arena video, I just saw a player do PEW PEW PEW, and it was over, win or lose.
