Since the Blues are out in force today, I thought I'd start a topic that won't get touched. Call me a dreamer.

Will we be getting a threat meter in WotLK and could we get some specifics on it please? Will it be a vague representation of our threat or will it have bars and exact values?

Thanks.

It will be bugged to always show the tank at 20% more than he really is at so the dps thinks they are safe, pull aggro, and die.

This was originally brought up at BlizzCon in '07 and it is still something we are working on, but we don't have any details to share just yet.

Could you just BUY the rights to omen or something and then just use that?

It is kind of sad that the players have developed many working threat meters, yet, almost four years into the game now the developers have yet to implement such a vital tool.

"I know that UI mods are a huge part of raiding, and it's something that, you know, we're also talking about, in the future we're actually talking about putting a threat meter inside our game."

That's of course a statement simply saying that there are discussions happening, which is in no way a promise or indication that a threat meter will be implemented, but that it's something that's been in discussions for implementation."

If they keep making raid encounters like they do now, it would be required.

A vague treat meter is fine if we're going to get vague threat fights. But if they're currently designing the 2.0 versions of Gruul, Prince, Void Reaver, etc., then we're gonna need exact values.

So which one is it?

ive always wanted a treat meter.

I have to be honest, i don't want blizzard to incorporate threat meters

As it stands there is basically the univerally accepted threat meter (omen) that is used in all but the most basic of pugs

I like things that are incorporated by blizzard, but the problem is blizz has so much on their plates that errors in their now-integrated mods, when the pop up after every patch, would takes days to fix. Even now after a patch, big bugs (like anetheron not spawning infernals etc...) takes a while before a hot-fix is implemented, and raiders wouldn't want to stop raiding for a day or several waiting for integrated threat meters to get working again. Most people would use another mod or program that has its own creator and support staff looking constantly after maintaining it (see, for examples, Ventrilo vs. integrated voice chat, specialized damage and combat log mods, like Nurfed or even Reaper and Recount, vs integrated combat log etc...)

I vote let blizzard keep working on the major content that they're best at, at let the accessories simply be assumed and let 3rd parties take care of them (heck, maybe even let blizzard work directly with them)

Requires : Warlock, Master Soulstone
Cooldown: 30 Minutes
Upon passing the main tank on threat, all your threat is wiped at the cost of all your buffs and 10% durability

The game is not intended to be played with a threat meter, and ti is by no means vital to the game.

To be perfectly honest, I'd prefer if they didn't.

Here's why.

The art department would get a hold of it.

Thus, it would be skinned with ornate dragons, gilded frames, and use large fonts. There might even be portraits by each of the names, in case we forget what we look like, all in the name of art.

Currently, I have Omen set to minimal and mostly transparent and off to the side. It's there when i need it, not visible when I don't need it, non-distracting, and efficient in terms of screen real estate.

I understand they feel they need to put their "mark" on it, but by and large, it's frippery over performance. I also use bongoes to minimize the buttons, and xperl to manage frames and am rather thankful that I've been able to eliminate all the gilded panels.

Now... if they wanted to release threat information to Omen developers directly, feed them the information they needed so they didn't have to reverse engineer threat... now THAT would be cool.
