Q u o t e:

Shadowflame sounds cool, but was this something warlocks needed you think? It's insant aoe damage with a dot?

I guess it's a nice burst move that warlocks lack sometimes.
I'm personally disappointed that we're getting yet another cool, gimmicky spell in place of something that actually expands our role as Warlock debuffer in WoW. I'd much rather see us get a new curse or debuff than the admittedly awesome Shadowflame.

50/0/21 as PVE spec. Im thinking only 3/5 Everlasting Affliction. The chances are that Corruption will still get refreshed even with only a 60% proc on it.
.

you lose out on 8% coefficient bonus to UA, corruption, and SL by doing that though.

i'd like to reiterate a question i posted early as it seems to me that it's more of a oversight than what they expected it to be:

the wording on haunt mentions the healing part as 20% of all the damage done to the target.
is that all the damage done by me or by the raid ? and that healing, does it generate threat ?
cuz if it is "all damage done" by the raid then, a 25 ppl raid doing about 40 to 50k DPS (which should be standard at lvl 80) that would be one MAJOR heal causing some serious threat.
(about about 96k to 120k heal lol) I hope it's just a misswording.

Well, I would assume the overheal portion would be ignored even if the heal does generate threat.

After playing with it some, I do think it's something that makes the class feel more complete all around, to be honest. There are times in PvP when you need a quick extra instant damage to finish someone off, or even help put that extra pressure on and you simply can't do it right now unless you have Shadowburn, or deeper in Destruction. There are many times while AoE'ing stuff in lower quantity groups where you might end up having to tank a few mobs in an AoE pack for a bit, but you're still expected to AoE at maximum efficiency. We all know that's just not possible unless you have Intensity, and even then it can still be problematic sometimes. This will help with those problems a bit. Plus, being able to throw out an instant to be able to Conflagrate off of is amazing compared to having to rely on Immolate. :P

I'm not sure right now, to be perfectly honest. I have a feeling it will end up being just your damage, but could be wrong. Right now it's a bit buggy and gives you back a flat heal I believe. I tried mixing up a few different rotations but it seemed to heal me for the same amount every time, so that's something we'll have to see where they want to head with it.

Q u o t e:

What isn't this an improvement for? One of Destruction's underlying issues is mana. 30% chance on all your main nukes to gain health AND mana that scales with your gear seems like a good talent to me. I wish it just worked off all Destruction spells, but otherwise I kinda like it. I think this talent is going to really help with mana issues for Destro more than you'd think, and I also think it was implemented because of the obvious concern of your pet running out of mana quickly if you were to use an imp, for instance. Before you would've needed Mana Feed. 100% necessary for a talent like Empowered Imp to work even slightly. Now you can pickup Soul Leech and Imp Soul Leech, and you'll have a ton of synergy between the talents, as not only will your imp run out of mana slower; but when your Imp proc's the effect for you and your next spell crits, that's extra health/mana you and your imp get in return. I agree there could be some tweaking, but it's looking like a good start to me.

Like you mentioned to Bibdy Soul Leech's problem is it's based on an RNG and therefore unreliable.

I like the effect from Improved Soul Leech and that it's also pet talent in Destro but I don't like the talent it's tied to.

Honestly we'd probably be better off if they just replaced the Soul Leech effect with the Improved Soul Leech effect instead of making it two talents.

So it's true you can use it for that huh.

Sweet.
Shadowflame, Shadowfury, Death Coil, Conflagrate, Shadowburn, throw a Backlash somewhere in there.

Nonstop string of attacks. Would burn your mana like hell though.

I hope it goes the route of CloS honestly, but with what you say about every class having 2 base spells at 75 and 80, it doesn't seem like a possibility.

Yea. That's the theory at least from what a blue poster said back in alpha forums. That could change, or may be different for certain classes and what have you, but that's their general idea for new abilities.

I'm deeply disappointed each class only gets 2 new trained abilities in 10 levels compared to the 5 we got in TBC.

Oh well I suppose... at least it won't lead to another CloS fiasco.

Yea, I agree that it's unreliable in that sense. But honestly, a 30% proc on most (hopefully this will change to all Destruction spells minus AoE's....) of your spells that you'd normally use is a pretty hefty amount all things considered.

I also agree just giving us both of them wrapped into one would be nice.

It's to prevent more action bar bloating and other general issues of the sort. I mean, you're getting brand new 51 point talents and such to play with as well, so there's a bunch to look at still. I know I personally don't really want another like 5-8 binds on top of my already 50+ binds that I use fairly consistantly as a warlock, but that's just me.

still nothing for affli or demo to make them scale better with crit/haste. With enough gear destro will still be the best build. Nerfs to DS and the new eradication talent might make the point at which the transition happens unobtainable in wotlk though.

Yet again blizzard demonstrates they don't understand the concept of scaling. Setting static bonuses against scaling bonuses only makes the static bonuses good for so long.

Am I confused about it or what but since when does Conflagrate work on a mob with any Fire Dot???
It states in the tooltip will only effect the mob with immolate and use the immolate up. Is this changed in beta?

I'm (mostly) happy with Affliction and I'm one of the more rabid critics of Blizzard in how they've handled the tree.

Yep, it's pretty sweet. Can't wait to play around with the stuff again some. Gonna probably relevel my warlock on beta since alpha characters are locked for a "short period of time" and I now have Gladiator title + better gear than I did 2 months ago during alpha.

It would be nice if we got one per tree at least =P

Curse of Impotence: Reduces damage the target does by 30% for 10 seconds. 5 minute cooldown.

Would be fun IMO =D

Yeah but gaining 10% damage to Shadow Bolt through crit while the target is below 20% health.

Going to have to wait and see what the spell damage numbers are at 80 to say for sure which is better.

they just need to consolidate spells. with the cor change, just merge cow and cor, reduces ap and armor.

and warlocks need a 3rd spell. CC for non-demons/elementals where your party members don't crap their pants as it runs toward another pack.

2 seems to be an odd number since each class has 3 spell trees, which means one tree for each class gets left out.
