I guess we were being too supportive - maybe its their attempt to make a class deemed to be only support less supportive...

You do realise that alot of people were asking for this? give us more damage at the sacrifice of our bubble, now you have it I guess...because its one or the other.

The fact that a lvl 70 ability is so affected by others in pvp is another story - if they want to make it a 5minute cooldown make it unpurgeable and unstealable. I don't see a mage being disadvantaged by using spell steal - a priest might blow themselves up with mass dispel but that is their own choice.

If we pop AW in PvP and theres a mage/shaman/priest around? wave goodbye to our only level 70 ability for another 5minutes.

And dont start your whinging about how much mana MD takes because everyone knows priests with blues/greens at lvl 70 has over 10k worth of mana.

And yes this pally is level 70.

There have been a lot of people crying because of the arena, and it seems that its more specifically 2 vs 2 crying. I'm hoping that wasn't the basis for their decision.

After further testing, we've decided to undo the following changes to the Paladin for the next patch as we felt the adjustments were too imposing on the class' ability to tank in dungeons.

-Increased the duration of "Avenging Wrath" by 50% (now lasts 30 sec.) This ability no longer invokes "Forbearance", but shares a cooldown with "Divine Shield".

-Forbearance now reduces damage dealt by the affected player by 15%.

With that being said, we do feel that the Paladin is currently capable of producing too much burst damage and are investigating reasonable ways to make minor reductions for the future.

Thank you. That was what I felt was the real problem anyway...I was going to be sad to say goodbye to 30% more froatloading :/

I hardly see the balance in this.

The problem: Paladins used BOP on mages who proceeded to DPS the ever loving snot out of some melee fools.

What exactly is the problem here? The fact that the mage was immune to melee damage? Which is obviously only a problem if theres no caster around, and considering that the majority of classes in game are casters. Or was it the fact that the mage was doing mass DPS while immune?

Heres a thought. While immune lower mage dps by a certian percentage ammount. Problem solved, paladins un-effected. Other classes un-effected.

That is balance. What we got was a knee-jerk reaction to a problem someone encountered in the arena and not balance.

thnx for the reply but I would really like to know how you guys are getting your info....Paladin's doing TOO much burst dmg? Yea, they do that dmg is they have amazing gear....You're average paladin will never come close to doing burst dmg. Your internal tests are far different than what we actually experience.

Too -much- burst damage? At 70? With the numbers i've seen, this sounds completely rediculous.

I kind of agree. The inflated stamina >>> our burst damage capability. And I'm sitting with pretty decent ret gear at the moment.

I mean, how in the world can you justify nerfing a class's burst damage who's only escape ability is a 5 minute cooldown when arcane mages can do what they can do and have blink/nova/CC?

I guess we'll have to wait and see what the future changes will be. I'm glad the changes are being undone, but the philosophy behind the nerfs is what got me in the first place and they seem to still be intact.

Too much burst damage?!! Are you not aware that Paladins have the lowest DPS in the game?! Please name one class that when specced for DPS does less damage then a Retribution Paladin.

Lower our burst fine. I don't give a damn. But buff something in exchange. Burst is only useful in PVP give Paladins a PVE buff!

thankyou for the clarification. possible solution for you, tone down AW to a lower percent of damage, do not hurt all trees because of burst damage of one.
