World PvP is dead because there are no rewards for it and few people play this game for fun only. There is little reason for people who are max level to engage in PvP.

I don't consider a level 70 ganking me at level 40 to be 'world PvP.'

Currently leveling a warlock that is now 45. Aside from two or three 'ganks' I have run across members of the opposite faction within my level range (+/- three levels) about half a dozen times. Only once was I attacked.

Q u o t e:
The current plan is to allow players to use their flying mounts once a character hits level 77 in Outland. I understand you feel they don't add to aspects of the game that you are looking for, but we believe they do add to the game and we are building the new content with the ability to use them in mind.

wha 77 in outland? do u mean northrend

Yeah it appears to have been a typo - I think we know what he meant though. :)

Do you guys have plans to allow them to be used in Lake Wintergrasp?

Ok, let me refute your points logically. First off, world PvP was trivialized before TBC ever came in. It was called battlegrounds......that ended the endless PvP fest that was known as Tarren Mill. Why go there when you can get gear, etc from a battleground.

This next statement response doesn't come from your first post but from one of your follow up posts. You talked about never walking very far.....Well I dunno where you quested, if you quested as horde. If you quested at all in the barrens....you wouldn't make this statement. If you quested in in Feralas or Desolace going from Camp Mojache to the other end of the zone, going from that end of the zone to Shadowprey Village, or even those fun runs back and forth over long periods of time in Silithus. Finally, I don't think you ever enlightened us on what the exact purpose of an MMORPG is supposed to be? Please do so.....how does flying around prevent the immersion you already got from trudging through the swamps of Zangarmarsh or grasslands of Nagrand?

One of the reasons I pretty much refuse to play horde is because of The Barrens. Just going from Ashenvale down to RFK on my Alliance toon is enough to make me want to jump off of the Great Lift (I think that's what it's called anyway). :(

Do you intend to increase the maximum speed of the epic ground mount, or allow ground mounts to be found/purchased that exceed the current maximum?

Translation: should I bother farming a Deathcharger, if I have to replace it to keep current?

There is some motivation for players to be out in the world is there not? Resources, going to instances, doing quests etc. Thus, people are going to be out in the world, regardless of if they are seeking world PvP or not, and on PvP servers, if it weren't for flying mounts, many more PvP encounters would occur.

As for the point you made about the Barrens, yes there was a fair amount of traveling, but there were never times other than maybe the first initial run to Camp Taurajo where you were running for more than about 10 minutes without reaching a quest objective or turning in a quest. In other words, you would get a fair amount of bank for your travel buck. Coincidentally, the Barrens is one of my favorite questing areas in the game.

The purpose of an MMORGP to me is an escape from the monotony of whatever else you could be doing, and the more immersive the game, the better. Avoiding content by simply flying a mile above, and having seemingly empty zones, takes away from that significantly for me.

Can we expect the same sort of price changes for Northrend usable mounts that we saw from vanilla to BC?

edit: changed "inflation" to "changes". don't want to sound like i'm whining

You will be able to use the same mounts that you currently use in Outland. There will be some sort of process to complete to be able to use the mount once a character hits level 77, but the exact details are undecided at this time. If you are referring to needing a large sum of gold to use them, sort of like a new tier of flying skill, that isn't the current plan.

So are flying mounts just plain not summonable until level 77, or are they just grounded until that time? I'd love to just see my Netherdrake running all over the place.
