I recently just got the Logitech G11 keyboard however I am not sure on what is considered a violation of the TOS ... for example, is it illegal to string say (multi-shot, steady shot, steady shot, arcane shot) all in one button - one keypress macro? ...

Any help would be awesome as I definately dont want to violate any TOS.

actually talking about an actual 'timed keystroke sequence' where you program the keyboard and set a macro button ... (keyboard is programmable with18 xtra buttons) ... just dont want to get in trouble and GM's said come here to get confirmation ...

DISCLAIMER: I am not Blizzard. Period.

Having said that...

Technically the G15 (I assume that's what you're talking about, not G11, which is a mouse) uses both a hardware (keyboard) side and software-side 3rd party program which is not created with the WoW Lua interface. As such, it is technically illegal to use, as it is a third party program designed to automate tasks within WoW.

On that note, I am sure that there are people that do this; Blizzard has also made a G15 addon for the LCD, so they obviously expect people to use the keyboard; and I have never heard of anyone getting banned for doing such a thing. On the same note, it would be impossible to detect if someone is pushing the keys manually or if it is the G15 software doing so.

In short, I wouldn't worry about it too much. As long as you're present at the keyboard, you're not using it to bot, and I'm sure you should be ok.

I myself use a G15, but I have my G keys set up differently, not to sequence spells. I have, say, M1 G1 set to Ctrl+Shift+1, M2 G1 set to Ctrl+Shift+F1, etc. This way, I can make some crazy key bindings, and have a binding for every button on my bar. Works very well :)

Being at the keyboard has nothing to do with it.

The timed keystroke sequence is NOT NOT NOT allowed, that is what got all those G15 users banned. Writing a macro in-game and binding it to an extra keyboard key is fine. One hardware event = one action. Shirik's way of binding M1 G1 to Ctrl+Shift+1, etc is the CORRECT way to use the keyboard.

That is precisely why I said it is technically not allowed ;)

I had never heard of "all those G15 users" getting banned though. That's rather interesting; I wonder how they proved it, though. To be honest, it's really impossible to detect. You can't test if the program's running, because you could have someone (like me) that uses it for a completely legitimate purpose.

On that note... I'm also not encouraging this behavior at all. In fact, I don't see why you would really want to - I like having direct control over what I cast. I'm just saying it's possible. It's also very possible to write a C program to do all the keyboard events for you -- that would be equally illegal.

EDIT: Okay maybe my post above was a bit misleading; I guess you could argue I did "support" it... but I don't exactly. Ugh... it's almost 7AM I should get to sleep ><

It's not that I WANT to make a macro that auto cast's a timed sequence of spells, as the previous poster said that would pretty much take the control & fun out of the game.. and actually this is the G11 keyboard not a mouse ... the difference being they are the exact same but the G11 does not have the LCD .. I really just want to know the 'boundries' on it's use so that I DO NOT violate the TOS .. and what im getting from this post is that it seams that 'recording' a set of timed events (keystrokes) and binding them to a 'G' key is NOT the proper way in which to use the keyboard .. it really is very hard to tell what is legal and what is not .. for instance I could make a wow macro (in game) that has an emote saying goodnight and then have my character lay down and sleep ... that seems like it's a timed sequence of events .. I'm just really confused on what's ok and what's not ... seriously thinking of trading this keyboard in for the Z-Board (but not without doing research on that keyboard.. lol) so confusing ....
