a) You can wipe on any boss. Mistakes happen, lag happens, something can go wrong.
b) Heroic mode exists remember.

Mistakes happen to everybody. Preparation and skill can reduce the chances of them occuring, but they can always happen.

What does duelling have to do with instance running anyway?

Why are you so defensive about allowing people multiple shots at a boss? I don't know why you seem to believe that mistakes can't happen to well-prepared groups, or just fluke things (shadowfiend attacking a sheep, I'm looking at you). If a group is THAT bad, they won't be able to kill the Calculator, multiple attempts or not. I'll readily agree that most of the non-heroic content is rather easy, but instead of attacking the players that are enjoying that content, I'm running heroics, Karazhan, Gruul, whatever.

So you expect everyone to read up on the strats that other people wrote like you probably did (gathering the facts and organizing them) and know exactly what to do? Maybe people don't want to read up on them and tackle the instance to learn it on their own!

Duels have nothing to do with being "good" or running instances...
