Contrary to what people think, you do NOT need alot of spell haste for this to work, and icy veins does NOTHING in determining whether or not your second ice lance will count as a shatter ice lance. Here is a video of me performing a "double" shatter combo on a mob with 96 spell haste, or 6% cast speed increase.
Clearly, Affix's earlier estimation of needing an excess of 140 spell haste and icy veins to accomplish this feat is far from accurate.

The FIRST ice lance hits for 700 non-crit, the second crits, keep in mind I reduced my +dmg to 336 during this so that the mob would not die before the second ice lance hit him.
Because there seems to be some sort of concencus that I should be nice and helpful in my posts, I'll give you guys a few tips instead of yelling and calling of you idiots:
1) If you are having trouble getting this to work at first, try casting your first ice lance after the frostbolt with a stopcasting macro, this can eliminate a small amount of lag.
2) This works if your second ice lance is cast and is IN THE AIR before the nova breaks. If your target still has freeze or nova on him when your ice lance is in the air, it will count for triple damage.

EDIT: Just to be on record saying this, I firmly believe that on LAN (0 latency), this can be accomplished with 0 spell haste.

in any event i feel sad for all of you retarded mages out there who are stacking spell haste and gemming haste trying to get anything over 100 when pro gamers like myself can double shatter with only 96 haste and no veins.
