There are serveral quests which let you ride a netherdrake temporarily, while doing these quests you can't control the direction, you're just along for the ride.

As far as you and the other people saying they saw someone riding a Netherdrake.... Its not a mount they keep, its from a quest. Period. Blizzard has already stated (in this very post) that its, essentially, not avaialable at this time.

Wait wait I just can't get over the fact that you used these mounts to advertise the expansion. Its on the freaking box and they are not in the game. In fact its the biggest thing on the back. I'm sorry thats just BS. Its misleading advertisement. Spread that that trailer with the mount all over the internet to increase buzz and its not even in the game ATM. You seriously dropped the ball. When I saw that I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen in an MMORPG and it doesn't even exist yet. You seriously need to issue a damn apolgy for the way yall handled yourselfs with this. Hell I'm sure some lawyer with to much time and money on his hands could find grounds for a law suit in this. You really do owe this community an apology.

I am just excited it won't be a PvP only thing and it will still be epic. Yeah a little disappointed I can't start getting my rep up yet, but I'll live. I am guessing this will be similar to Winterspring Frostsaber method. I just hope they make it more interesting then kill furbies wash rinse repeat until your hand cramps so much you can't click the mouse anymore. Yeah been there done that. Even with a rep grind not everyone will do it. MANY people start it, but soon give up cuz it takes forever. There's maybe a handful of people on my server that have the purple cat. I don't think this would be any different, maybe even harder. Sad I will be one of the people trying for it when it get implemented.

My question is this:

If it does reflect a style similar to the frostsaber. Will it require the 300 riding skill? If the pvp mount follows tradition then yes, PvPers would have to get the 300 skill to ride their netherdrake. Bliz made that so when they did away with ranks and you had to have 150 to ride pvp epic mounts. But it was pointed out to me when all the riding skills were changed, that my purple kitty, which is a non amrored epic cat, only now required lvl 75 riding instead of 150 like every other epic(well not sure about the special drops from ZG)! (of course post xpac this isnt a big deal since you have to get 150 to get 225 flying) Or is this simply a tooltip error? Just a thought.

i always wondered that myself, i remember back in the day grinding honor to get the mounts but anyway this is about drakes..... i enjoyed the questline to get to neutral but it is a VERY big dissapointment that it stops there.... why tease us with 7 quests (i think thats the number) to get our rep to neutral then slam on the brakes and kick us out of the car..... if the questline or rep grind was not ready then dont put it in at all, giving us a sample only makes it worse in my mind

if it is a rep grind please make it better than kill a flayer, feed a dragon, kill a flayer, feed a dragon.... i might shoot myself if i need to do that 500+ times but then again i would still do it......

So...if I get this right...
Armored netherdrake is a arena award... with 310 speed? Or is it 280?
Normal (no armor) netherdrake is a rep grind and quest for 310 or 280 speed?
Both need the 5000g training to ride.

Favorite things to do: Tank, get punted, get aggro, die. (Yes, in that order)
BUBBLES!

from what i understand the pvp drake (Armored) will have 310 speed and still require the 5000g riding, the pve drake (non armored) will be the exact same speed and cost, the only difference will be cosmetic(little metal plates). also i believe that the rep grind/extremely long quest for the pve mount will not be implemented until the first arena season has started to make it fair to those who do nothing but pvp

From what I've been hearing, its 310% speed for BOTH of the netherdrakes. If you notice, the "Swift" mounts are a "rare" item, not epic, thus netherdrakes being 310% due to their "epic" status summoning item.

Common sense you know? Why would a rare mount at 280% also be the same speed as an epic mount at 280%?

I've been able to gather a little more information which should help set some of the information straight.

The swift (armored) nether drake which is a seasonal arena reward will be a 310% speed flying mount.

The (unarmored) nether drake will be obtained through a quest (which is planned to be implemented in a future patch) and will be a 280% speed flying mount. This nether drake is intended to supply players with a cool new epic mount and won't require any tasks within raid encounters. It's a reward that all players can work towards, but it will still be difficult to obtain.

There is another mount that is 310% speed that is yet undiscovered which is intended to be an equally rare and difficult to obtain equivalent to the arena reward. That's the only information we're able to give at this time.

As long as it's a different shade of netherdrake, I'm there. If it's a damn bird, nuts to it. I don't need the extra speed as badly as I need a dragon beneath my butt.

according to the translation, the arena one will be of epic quality or 310, and the pve one being slow, this is what I get from it, I'm working on my own translation atm so I'll find out in a sec.

EDIT:

rapide being fast so... according to this, it looks like the pve one will be 60%

the world Netherdrake will be an epic mount, at 210% (or whatever) speed. the Arena one is special, clocking at 310% speed, according to last reports.

The unarmored Netherdrake needs to be 310% speed. Blizzard, not all of us are in the "uber" elite guild on our realm, in fact the vast majority of us are not. From the information Drysc has given us, the best mounts will be available only to mabey 10 players out of thousands per realm. People in non-basement virgin guilds pay you the same 15/month that the "elite"do, we deserve equal rewards.

Can you smell what the Horde is cooking?
