I've modified (poorly!) Jubeis AEP mod (http://wow-en.curse-gaming.com/files/details/2228/jubeis-aep/) to show Cat Points and Tank Points derived from the model in:

http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=104460524&sid=1 (cat)
http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=104460564&sid=1 (bear)

Installing this mod will add two lines to your tool tip when inspecting items, Cat Points and Tank Points.

Cat Points are a measure of the DPS added by the item in cat form, calculated as:
Cat Points = str*2.4 + agi*2.39 + AP + wepskill*0.89 + hit*1.37 + crit*1.57

Tank Points are a measure of the mitigation added by the item in dire bear form, calculated as:
Tank Points = agi*4.27 + sta*3.13 + def*2.96 + dodge*3.13 + res*1.73 + armor*0.52 + health*0.26

This should make comparing equipment easier. Remember Cat Points include no stamina, and Tank Points include no threat generation, so these numbers should not be the sole thing determining equipment selection.

The beta version of the mod is available at:
http://plundercats.antiochforever.com/files/DruidPoints.zip

For help type /aep

Known Issues

All ratings are calculated for lvl 70 - use the lvl 70 tables only.
Weapons are not properly adding in +feral attack power. Add this in by hand since 1 AP = 1 Cat Point.
The Tank Points model assumes a very well geared tank (See wow-eu thread) and might not be appropriate for a poorly geared tank.
Some tooltips might contain an extra line.

Wow, this is awesome. My husband is a rogue, and has the original AEP mod downloaded, so I've seen how it works. I love that this has been configured for feral druids!!!

Kimi

Edit: Since the file name is the same as the original, it will overwrite it if I download it. Anyone this could be changed? Thanks

I actually don't know lua and have never looked at mod code before the two hours spend modifying the mod this morning. I think if you change the mods folder name (to say, Jubei_AEP_druid - no need to modify the library mod that it comes with, one copy is fine), copy it to the addons directory, then select the version you want in your druids addon list it will work. Both versions will have the same name, so you'll have to experiment to figure out which AEP mod in the list is for druids and which is for rogues. I imagine having both version active would cause some errors.

Do you know of a good model for healing points? I need a way to convert +heal, int, spirit, spell crit, and mana/5 to a meaningful healing points, then I could add it pretty easily.

What do you do about sockets? Reckon you could have configurable options to set a preferred gem for each colour, that is then used in the calculations?

Yea, no offense but I don't exactly trust these forums. I'm interested in the mod but I'll wait until you upload it to a known site. Sounds cool though since I spend a ton of time debating on how to assemble my different gear sets.

I'll put it on a mod site when I get a little more feedback - there are probably a lot of bugs. The author of the original mod might also incorporate the changes once he hits 70, which would probably be best since it would be more reliable and better supported.

Q u o t e:
Hmm I might check this out. I downloaded a mod that has a ingame calculator and have always used that while calculating what I gain and lose with each new piece of gear. This has me curious though.

What mod is that?

The mod is bugged for catpoints I discovered, since my current belt Shadowcraft should not be better than http://www.thottbot.net/?i=58002 Burning Blade Devotee's Cinch.

I am getting 32.6 CatPoints calculated when it has 22 hit and 22 crit rating. Clearly this should be over 44 CatPoints to begin with.

Upon farther investigation I think I discovered that the addon is not handling crit and hit rating properly

I actually fixed it, by using the latest version AEP and modding it. Next chance I have, I'll upload it.

Very simple and very clever.

Saves a lot of mental math.

Thanks.

It's a good idea... but the values seem to be way off.

For instance, Staff of Beasts (31 Str, 30 Agi, 45 Stam, 298 FAP) shows 269 Tank Points, while Braxxis' only shows about 280.

And it has 146 Cat points vs Fleshling Simulation Staff's 149.3 (27 Str, 27 Agi, 27 Stam, 26 Hit Rating, 361 FAP, 17 Feral Skill).

I know in some cases, you don't need that bit of extra armor that Braxxis' gives, but there's no way that staff of beasts is a "close call" to Fleshling, as the numbers would have you believe. It seems to be putting a lot of points into Stam, which for cat is good but not nearly to the weight that this mod would seem to put on it.
