This is my first time posting here, I usually just read the forums but I saw something earlier today in Durnholde that suprised me and everyone I was in the group with.
If you go to Southshore during the instance, you will see alot of the lore characters which was nice, seeing them play out some of their history, but the intereseting part was, they all had different human models. They looked nothing like the regular Alliance Human models.
There is an "overweight" Hillsbrad Citizen, there is an "overweight" female innkeeper, a citizen in ragged robes with very detailed hair and tattoos on his face.
The human females with new faces, hairstyles, robes, and idle movements.
All in all they look really amazing.
Are these old models that havent been used or is this another 'easter egg' type thing that happened with Burning Crusades Blood Elves?
Also, the clothing they are wearing is very..tribal on some of them, vikingish i'd say. As for the others, if they're robes we're part of any tier armor, i'd be the first to roll that class to get that armor.

Those are old models.
I saw a Storm Wolf with a Pandaren menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of Ratchet in the rain
He was looking for a place called Chen Stormstout
Gonna get him a big dish of Taur'n Chow Mein

these are acutaly really old models from alpha/beta that were never used, its likely that blizzard intended for these models to act as civilians in towns (the female human one looks almost identical to the female civ. model in WC3) but decided to use normal human models instead

Thank you for the quick replies. It's a shame that they aren't using those models, they really do look amazing and add so much more depth to the race/game to see such variety.

Apparently the models we use now are a result of a "graphical update" to those old models.

I don't really know the background behind them, but I kind of chuckled when I saw them thinking that it was probably an intentional and clever joke. They're old models from the game pre-beta, and in the Caverns of Time you're going back in time...
Chortle to the max!
Their system of oppression, what did it lead to? Global robot depression.

Wow, i'm sorry but the developers at blizzard really should consider going back to the pre-beta models, they look so much better than the current ones, so much more detail to them.
And thank you all for the replies and clarification, very appreciated.

Honestly I'm glad they changed them, they look completely out of place with all of the other characters in-game. WoW has a pretty cartoonish look and feel to it, and those old human models don't seem to follow that.

Wait, so back in time people were fat but nowadays they're not?

The only race I would ever play as alliance would be human, but the human models are so ugly. They have no forearms, they look like popeye, and on top of that they don't walk like a human at all just a large brick with moving legs.
If they had these human models implemented I roll a human in a heart beat and play alliance for the first time since release.

For human females, I prefer the hairs in the old model viewer. For everything else including faces, I like the models we have presently.
Although I admit the girl with black hairs on the first screenshot would be pretty cool for a warrior, as she looks a lot tougher than the current models.
