I vote those players with seniority get beta invites, or at least those who have over 100 days played :P

This just in: a Blizzard Cm was arrested for stalking a player in Tuscon..
The CM was found outside the player's bathroom window, screaming "STOP POSTING IN CAPS!"

If there was this much brown-nosing at my office I would go in early with a M16.

I'd have a bullhorn to save my voice for the next house and I'd most likely be looking in whichever window was near the computer so I could yell it JUST as they reach for the caps lock button to get a more profound effect. At least, that's the scenario in my head.

Q u o t e:
Neth, will there be some sort of application process to at least show interest in beta testing? If its completely random, what happens if you pick someone who isn't even interested? :P

Undetermined on the first question and it will most likely be the same as with any beta someone gets and isn't interested in, they just won't play it. We watch our numbers, we see if we have the beta testers we need, and if we need more, we get more people in.

It's all dependent on what the development team feel they want to have tested and where the focus is. We could have specific things we want players to test, or we could just want to load things up and stress it.

Q u o t e:
We generally pull from many places so that we have a good variety of people in the beta. Some of it is random and some are winners from contests, or specific groups that we want to pull from. We don't have a specific schedule for you on who we will pull in or when to share with you, but we'll do what we can to keep people as informed as possible.

Dear CMs et. al. I won't argue to have me and my friends included in the closed beta, but please find some dedicated folks who enjoy levelling on 5-man content, not just questing until max level and then instancing. The levelling (60-69) instances in TBC seemed excellent at first, but now that I'm going back and re-running all of the old-world instances with two other friends, we're finding that the old world instances are, in many ways, more creative and satisfying. I think that a group like that in the beta would really have some unique feedback for you, and I'm sure you can look into the stats for who delves into these old-world dungeons with appropriate-level characters (running an instance or being run-through with a high-level toon does not give you a sense of their quality of play).

Thank you for your time.

Edit: said "open beta"

Q u o t e:

There is no minimum level of experience needed since we look at a broad spectrum of testers. We want people of all experience levels to be able to share their experiences with us so that we know where we might need to work on something more. We don't necessarily want to make one aspect too hard or too easy on either end of things.

I've been there... I'm not sure you're worthy. ;p

Hey hey now Tucson,Az is a good place! But not those Oro Vally people all snoby and such! They remind me of the people in Marana people...since they are both snoby and the motorcycle cops look like Judge Dredd.

Pick me! I want to test.

I think all the hybrids suffer from the misunderstoodation that comes with being able to do many things, but only if you spec into it.

No. As Neth indicated, they want people of multiple playstyles and experience. Different people approach the game in different ways. To truly beat on the code, you need all sorts of people.

Pretty much on the head here. Been beta testing for awhile but still get denied if my specs are over or under what they're looking for during a specific phase. It's luck of the draw unless you're a notable top 5 world wide guild.

I just thought I'd update this thread with a little extra information to let people know that there will be a sign up process when it comes time for the beta as well.

Please note that that time is not now. Please be aware that there are some scams currently running that are asking people to sign up for Wrath of the Lich King beta. We will let everyone know when it is time to sign up.

Gentle candle glowing bright
You shine your light in the night
Flickering daintily to and fro
You tease me around the bend
As I land on Northrend...

In the WotLK Beta!

Well, that amused me for a bit. ;)

How it has worked in the past is they first give keys to top guilds, then have an open signup for anyone who has the game to apply for beta. After that, they give out keys to people who signed up in several waves throughout the progress of beta. Hopefully it will go better than TBC beta though, as I remember pretty much the same first pool of people just getting multiple keys every wave.

Some guy who works at Blizzard, has a 12 year old daughter who has only got a character to level 12.

She will be in the beta of WOTLK, before any of us are.
