For me it is to feel that I accomplished something with the new character. I enjoy knowing I have multiple characters all leveled up and ready to go if I need them.

This is how I look at it as well. It's why, for me at least, I'm not tired of this game as some have posted. There's always something to be done. I never seem to run out of things on the 'to do' list.

Yeah really. I dont care about the lore at all. I mean it's kinda cool to throw in here and there but by and large I dont think it's a big deal to continue the lore.

We don't have any details to share beyond Wrath of the Lich King.

That said, before we start to think of things that are way down the road, focus on the present. Well... we like to say that because we already have two more expansions planned and we want it to be a "surprise" as if it were a surprise. Plus we're keep this gravy train rolling for us and admitting to you guys have to deal with the leveling slog that is Blade's Edge and Shadowmoon Valley at least two more times is a good way of discourging the player base from buying our games and we think we can keep this going until 2020. Either way, if you really wanna know what we're doing, heres a hint...

http://www.wowwiki.com/Unfinished_Zones

Either way, we still have the Emerald Dream, 3 more Dimensional Gates to 3 more worlds, Argus, Sargeras, Azshara, Old Gods and what not to still look forward to. We gotta at least keep you guys eating out of our hand until the Starcraft MMO.

P.S. Buy WotLK, I need to get a second Solid Gold Hummer that runs on Unicorn Blood and Tears :)

Q u o t e:

Although I agree with you, it was pretty annoying having a bunch of my AQ40 gear (stuff I worked hard to obtain) be replaced by green items 2 weeks after tBC was released. Along the lines of what you said ("to feel that I accomplished something"), I'm really hoping that there will be an effort to minimize this kind of thing happening in WoTLK. I understand that it's going to happen no matter what (because all gear will eventually be replaced), but I hope it wont happen quite as much this time.

It really nerfed that feeling of accomplishment. I would like to maintain that somehow, beyond mere memories, even if that means the old gear gets replaced.

EDIT: one idea I like = a safety deposit box where I could store old gear. Different from a regular bank slot, you could store things, but you'd have to request to retrieve it and then wait some time (24 hours?). This would minimize the load on the database that contains your inventory items; it would also prevent me from having to delete items to make space in my bank.

Just trying to be constructive

We appreciate the ideas and this would be a good thing to focus on in the Suggestions forum. I personally have about 1.5 bags in my bank with just memorable items.

As for the leveling part. I used most of my AQ40 items a decent ways into leveling to 70 and they made leveling go quite a bit easier for me which I felt was a great reward. Something to keep in mind is that there was a change in item setup in The Burning Crusade to where you saw a lot more stamina on basically everything.

In Wrath of the Lich King we don't currently plan to rework an entire statistic like that, so instead the items will just get more powerful at a more consistent rate. Of course anything can still change so we'll have to see how things turn out.

I have 5 70's as well. While it will be tedious (and you know we can't leave any sitting at 70 for too long), it will be well worth leveling them up to 80. Bliz said the progression should be similar to what 60-70 was, and considering most of our 70's will be in epics, the first few levels will likely be an extreme breeze.

Beyond that...you know some classes are going to get some uber cool new abilities and skills. With 5 70's, the chances are we will stumble on to a few of them. Where the guy with one 70 may only have a mage and be the guy left out if mages get screwed over again.

Q u o t e:
The issue I have with the game is that the level cap may be raised beyond 80 and I have 5 70´s atm, all pretty well geared. What is the point in spending countless hours gearing up your characters if the next expansion allows you to replace epics with greens within a few level advancements?

What is the point of getting an education, job, car, house, new computer when you are just going to die and can't use any of it anymore.

Q u o t e:

It would be nice if Blizz would leave the level cap at 80 and just find new methods to increase skills and gear and abilities while remaining at 80.

They need to increase it enough to for me to be able to single man Hyjal.

Everything else = replaced within 2 weeks.

Sorry. I assumed by "bunch of my AQ40 gear (stuff I worked hard to obtain)" you meant that you had a lot of end game gear from, there. My bad.

Also, I was referring to those who DID have all end game gear. Don't get all pissy w/ me. You're not good enough.

I wanna someday be level 200 and solo places like Black Temple or AQ40! That is gonna be AWESOME!!! Imagine being level 200, running into Black Temple... just AOEing everything, seeing level 75 elites dealing 1 damage or nothing to you and you're a WARLOCK that wears cloth!!! Then you reach Illidan and he drops with just 1 Shadowbolt. OH MAN, that will be the day!!!!

If the levels will scale that high, won't they make a difficulty beyond heroic for instances? Otherwise, they will have to come up with different bosses higher than Illidan. It would be embarrassing to say that WoW's MAIN BOSS could be dropped in one hit.

Gotta love internet tough guys - you're so cute when you pretend to be superior.

I raided Naxx and everything up to it. Only a single T2 item lasted to 70 (although maybe 25% lasted to 69). Most people I talked to had their epics all replaced a few weeks after the expansion was released; mine lasted longer (but not much).

They reset your "I Win" button and you're complaining?

Not everyone wants to be "finished" with the game. I don't think Blizz would appreciate people leaving in droves because there is nothing left to do.

The only thing that I found disappointing about tBC is the fact they made so many previously high level dungeons completely useless.

Heroic modes would be nice, Blizz!

You know when raiders get accused of only caring about epics, and they come back with explanations about how its not about epics but its really about just the conquering of new content and such?

That.

The sense of accomplishment should come from the downing of a boss, not the fact that your purple will last you forever.

Q u o t e:
There has to be a better way of transitioning and improving the character without making the endless hours of raiding already put in obsolete.

Anything is possible so don´t say it is a necessary part of any mmo to increase the level cap. The game should find a way to respect the time already put in and allowing the character to progress wihout having to add levels.

I am saying this now at 80, I did not mind the 70 increase, or the increase to 80. Beyond that it seems like it Would be a bit silly to create a new character, especially if you want to attract new players to the game.

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Tichondrius&n=Wardevil
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Tichondrius&n=Magilicious

But there is NO way to do what you're asking

MMO's are about progressing your character - i think you already agreed to this, or would agree in any case

There are only a limited number of ways to progress your character:
1) Gear - if an expansion only added lot's of new gear, in the end everyone would get it. Granted you may be level 80 as is everyone else, but now your gear is so far behind you won't be able to compete. You may as well be 10 levels behind if the person you're fighting has 3000 more hp, 300 more resil than you and is putting out 40% more damage than you are

2) Levelling - the easiest way of progressing your character, and the only way that people will agree is a fair platform (everyone, no matter how casual, can level solo or in groups, at their own convenience and end up at the same point, albeit later, as everyone else)

3) New Skills / talents - again, if an expansion came out you'd be forced to do all the quests or grinds etc... to get these new skills in order to be competitive

--> 1 / 3 are ways blizzard can improve your character in the current game, because they take less work (Ie, added new ranks of spells in AQ20 to progres characters).

#2 requires an expansion because to allow levelling to be fresh and exciting you need dozens of new mobs, hundreds of new quests, complete with their own storylines, goals, and rewards etc...

So i not only expect the level cap to go above 80 for The Rise of the Legion (or whatever the expansion after WotLK is called), but i hope for it to

Warrior Vanish
Requires : Warlock, Master Soulstone
Cooldown: 30 Minutes
Upon passing the main tank on threat, all your threat is wiped at the cost of all your buffs and 10% durability

Not so much. Honestly, at first I was upset that most of it was outclassed by lvl 64 gear. But after a while, I was happy simply to get better stuff. The thing that *really* bothered me was having to vendor items I really wanted to keep - simply because I didn't have enough bank space to store them.

I'm like Bornakk (above), in that I have 1-2 bags full of "nostalgia". I just wish I could have kept more of it.

I'm hoping they find a way to make the older content fun *and* useful again (to high levels)
