Last topic named "Lottery and the ToS" was deleted, for a good reason probably. This time, can you keep it to a informative minimum of responses? Don't debate, just answer the question if you know the answer. All I'm looking for is information, not anything else.
The question : Is lottery (or gambling) (in-game, with in-game gold) with a non-profit system, against the ToS? If you think so, please indicate where it is written.
Again, I don't want to know if it's wrong/right/stupid, just if you can do it.

Thanks, so I'll take that as a no.
However, if I had not posted on the forums, there would have been no possible way for me to find it out? Somehow getting banned for something you didn't know was illegal and you had no way of knowing seems weird...

It's not allowed, as it falls under a large umbrella of "griefing".
He's what happens. You run a straight up game. People play the game, and lose. Said people report you. GM's really this is a messy situation, they don't like messy situations, and they take action against you.
While technically a well-run honest game isn't griefing, it's been said here before this kind of thing isn't allowed, as it can lead to abuse and significant player issues.

Typically, I'd think it would depend on how its done. If you're doing it 100% in game, such as dice rolling for 50s (something small) I doubt that anyone is going to say that its a big problem. However, I would also think that large scale lottery or raffles, that could be a method of scamming people (because the system would surely have some level of human control involved) would probably not be wise because if one person does it, even legitimately, others will try to do it to scam. Though I can't find any direct rules for it either (I bet there are some), I'd think that gambling beyond low-cost roleplaying or passing time would probably not be a good idea.
Edit; lots of post while I wrote this. Don't gamble!

Do the GM's "Alert" you before banning if you do this conscidering the fact that there is no place where it is actually written down? Or do they simply conscider that you know everything that falls under "griefing"?

I'm sure blizzard would have warned you after the first report.

Here's the official word on ingame gambling:
Conducting or facilitating ingame gambling of any kind is an actionable offense. Don't do it.

Try to walk a mile in a healer's sandals. That way, you'll be a mile ahead of them. And out of range for heals. And die. And blame it on them.
