0. Questions about the Blizzard Online Store 01/05/2007 09:17:33 PM PST
As you've likely noticed from the announcement on our front page, it is now possible to order The Burning Crusade on the Blizzard Online Store, and a number of you seem to have questions or concerns regarding the ordering process.
The best means of seeking the answers you desire is to call 1-800-953-SNOW (domestic) or (949) 955-0283 (international) between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Pacific time, Monday through Friday. That way, our live representatives may provide further assistance with any issues you may have with your current or prospective orders. Unfortunately, these forums are not the proper avenue through which such inquiries may be made, and any additional threads on the topic may be locked or deleted at our discretion. We appreciate your cooperation, folks. Thanks for shopping!

Least it's not 1-976-976-SNOW.
:P
However in all seriousness, i question the idea of telling people to call phone lines when most of the Blizz customer support lines are always busy or have way too much hold time. :(

Do we need the actual CD to install the client or can we simply patch the retail OR beta client to BC release version and then input a CD key obtained from someone who bought us a boxed copy of the game?
I mean come on we've been asking this question for weeks and there has to be an answer by now 1 week before release. For those of us overseas it makes a huge difference if we have to buy from the US and wait the 2-3 weeks for it to ship or if we can simply download the beta client and buy a cd key from an online retailer (THERE ARE PLACES THAT DO THIS onlinecdkey.com for example) or from a friend in the US who grabs an extra box and emails us the key. An answer or at least a "We hope to do so" or "That's the tentative plan" would be helpfull

I predict a huge influx of orders, then lots of people disapointed they haven't received their copy on the 16th ... and then on the 17th ... and then on the 18th ... etc.
For how long has TBC gone gold, I wonder ?
Maybe Blizzard will pull this one off ... MAYBE ... I'm not holding my breath, though, given their track record.

If only it were that simple. This is a case of Blizzard being run by The Man.
Online CD key = unhappy publishers, who are stubborn about changing distribution methods. Vivendi, which owns Blizzad, used to own Valve. Valve went through hell (lawsuits with Vivendi) to break free and do online keys and distribution, through what we know as Steam.

You will need a hard-copy.
Everyone stars on their own silver screen; Often missing what is out of frame.

As I have been informed, what matters is you can order TBC from the online store and have it delivered to your door on release day...all for perhaps 3$ in shipping fees. Since all the copies of TBC that ship to other stores come from blizzard,I feel confident that blizzard will actually make the date too :)

It would be SO simple ...
Cut down the price by 5$ or 10$ if you only want the cd-key to upgrade the account, without the manuals and box and everything else no one really needs... send it through e-mail ... voilà.
No shipping cost, no real hassles for Blizzard except setting up the distro method. Then they'd be good forever for future expansions and other games as well.
Yea, i'm living in a fantasy world ... though i'm one to think Blizzard would do just that if they weren't owned by Vivendi, which obviously refuses such methods, as stated above.

I just noticed one little problem:
Q u o t e: between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Pacific time, Monday through Friday.
Considering this Monday is the last day people can order the expansion and have it delivered on time... I'd expect a heavy influx of calls next week ;)
I like Hello Kitty Island Adventure a lot more than this dumb game...

Q u o t e:

Why..
Why cannot i just pay what it costs via your already operational billing system? I'm going to have a download the patch anyway so whats the point of this token CD and a box...
I want to buy it direct and online why do you force us to goto crappy stores? I know everyone in my guild would prefer this method and I'm sure many others would to.
Then entire box released thing seem rather archaic now days.

Way to announce it on a friday so we have to wait all weekend to call....making the 8th the last day we can order to get it on the 16th....and the first day we can even call to ask about this shipping/billing thing. /sigh
