You've just finished an instance with a fun pug and got the xyz piece you have been waiting for to drop. You have little or no repair bill. Your tank did a great job and has 51 gp repair bill. So, do you tip? If not, why not? If so, how much?

why would you tip any class for doing their job? Repair bills are just cost of doing business.

By far the best quote from a CM.

Does the tank pay for my food, water, reagents, potions, oils, elixirs and my repair bill when I come in to heal?

I like this idea... you're on to something.

I'll help him out if there were alot of wipes. usually 7-10g.
and as far as bringing water/reagents.. you should do that before you go into the dungeon.

As said before, repair bills are the cost of doing business, much like reagents, food, water, etc. I don't expect a tip, but a nice "Thanks, job well done!" at the end of the run is payment enough for me :).

If he has a 51g repair bill he's not worthy of being tipped.

51 gold repair bill? Uhm, I think a tank would drop party before it got to that.

Its a bit high but plate costs a crap load to repair.

When i tank if im done the dailies and people are looking to pay for a tank ill charge 100g to respec both ways. Hell ill charge 100g for a respec if im prot if its a non guild run. Guild mates can ask and ill generally tank almost anything if im not currently busy.

If the tank did his job the healer and ranged dps should not have to repair anything, or take any damage. Also bring a mage, if you dont want to pay for food, water. And if your using elixirs, potions, and oils in any 5mans or heroics your not worth it to bring along.

I have only been offered money once at the end of the run. Refused it. I like tanking, if you suck, I will either boot you or leave before it gets too expensive.

unless the rest of the group was causing the many wipes needed to get to that cost.

in which case its his fault for not leaving...

plus I wouldn't consider it a "good" run

If I could tank for a party full of draenei females, I'd do it for free.

Otherwise, no. I have a lot of fun doing my job and a simple 'thanks for coming/tanking/ a good job' is enough for me.

Its not like my gear costs a lot to repair or money is hard to come by nowadays...

QFT..any pug that is leading me down the path of a 51g repair bill doesn't meet any of the adjectives you used. I'm out LONG before then. You can usually tell when a pug is going to go bad pretty early on.

I rarely pug, and when I do it's because I want something from the instance (badges). If I'm running because I want to and I need badges for a piece of gear than of course I wouldn't expect any reimbursment. However, if a group is desperate for a tank and does a /who 70 warrior, then sends me a whisper out of nowhere, and expects me to drop what I'm doing to tank their pug...well, if they expect any answer other than "um..no" they'd better sweeten the pot pretty quick. Random pug is random, but 50g or so tossed my way would at least make me listen.

Tanking is like having a retarded kid brother who roams the streets in a bathrobe throwing firecrackers at people, and when they get mad you have to step in and take the beating. It's like that.

When I'm on one of my 70 dps classes, I absolutely tip the tank. Usually it's 5 - 10g depending on how many wipes we have.

If leveling from 1 - 60 faster is better, then not leveling at all is best.
It's time to start everyone at 70 with an epic mount.
