And as usual, no one will be there except you.

I kind of have to agree. Is it even possible to find someone in Thousands Needles? At best, you might find a few in the raceway.

He's got the paladin mindset of two spells - "try again" and "omg ad hominem".

Really though, if he can't even quote properly, he's not ready to start referencing debate fallacies. It's like trying to program a computer before you've learned to use a keyboard.

:)

My horde & alliance mains are both paladins. (I don't post on those because they're both male, though admittedly the human is the weirder of the 2) So I was thinking the bolding was more of a 'bubble & post' issue. But you could be right!

I think that's your answer, really.

If you want to get into the hows and whys of the player and why they would find such gameplay fun or rewarding... then you're getting into some moderate psychological diagnosis. Personally I don't think it's fair, or even important to try to place some sort of marker or label on someone as to why they're doing it. They just are, it's enjoyable to them for whatever reason. Adapt.

It is this attitude by Blizzard employees which is almost as frustrating as the griefers themselves. You set up a ruleset for PvP servers which allow for and predictably results in this kind of harassment, then turn around tell the victims to "adapt" in essence claiming you have no responsibility for causing or fixing the problem. Why do you continue to cater to players who are deliberately seeking to ruin others gaming experience, while refusing to do anything to help the victims?

I have a hard time believing this is what the developers envisioned when they designed PvP servers. If you were serious about PvP being anything more than harassment you would limit it by zone. Only players in the level range for the zone would be flagged. Players outside the level range could only be attacked if they or a member of their group is attacked first.

I particularly liked the part where he bubble-hearthed with "I have friends, it is not yet my time!"

Well, if you do find someone, you can almost guarantee they'll be alone. And if they call in Guildies, it will be an hour long flight to get there.

They sure as hell found me on this toon when I was doing my felhunter quest =P

Maybe this is what people do after they've lost to too many warlocks! Stalk them on their felhunter quest! Considering how much you have to run around on those quests, that is just cruel.

This is why PvP servers fail. I have two 70s on PvP servers and I always thought it was lame for someone 50 levels above you to be able to kill you. That's not PvP. And like another poster said there is a big difference between actual PvP and griefing.

Fortunately, Mythic agrees that this is cowardly and unfair, and has a mechanism in their upcoming game that turns high-level characters into a chicken when and if they enter a low level area.

Griefing does not equal PvP.

It never has.

The answer is simple, and in such I will provide an illustration:

It's threads like this that have ruined the WoW forums.

Oh lord, so many wounded egos in this thread...

"Griefers are bad!"
"If you grief, it's like punching babies!"
"I would never grief! Decent people don't do that!"

Look, retards, we have a sandbox. We have rules in this sandbox, and how our characters interact with each other are clearly defined. PvP is not regulated in any fashion, so therefore, quit trying to impose what YOU would do if YOU were playing SOMEONE ELSE'S character. There are no limits on PvPing too much, or who you can kill, and any attempts to regulate this through social consequences will be met with disdain.

Just because this thread is so popular, I'm going to scrap my cyber nuts on some cyber face this evening in STV.

Personally, I think PvP would of been a lot more fun if Blizzard had separated it into:

PvP servers = any one can kill anyone
(alliance can gank alliance, horde can gank horde, horde can gank alliance, alliance can gank horde)
RP servers = current PvP servers (only opposing factions can gank eachother)
PVE servers = weird, just leave em alone
(only reason I transferred my paly from PVP was to join some extended family members)

If the PVP servers would of been like that, ganking would be a little different but generally, I think the early reply with the classifications of players and why they gank sums it up nicely.

Incorrect. Most people are not normal, and are still ****wads.

Actually - this is kind of a dark thought - but humanity has had a long, proud tradition of coming up with new & creative ways of killing each other. The Blood Eagle, Toasting People for Divination in Wicker Baskets, Still Beating Hearts... Maybe it's ingrained in our DNA, & for some, that Force is stronger.

I think that's why I don't like pvp much. I get nothing out of it, psychologically speaking. I do it for daily gold, for better gear. I like healing a lot, because people are so grateful. On my hunter, I defend. On my mage, I die a lot (and get left defending because no one else will - there's bad planning, btw - leave the FIRE mage to defend.) I used to lose tennis matches deliberately because I found if I won, my opponent was in a nasty mood. If I lost, I'd get invited to lunch, or general merriment. I felt bad if I beat someone, & that wasn't balanced by any rush of great pride.

So... maybe it's a dna thing. Some of us have it, & some of us don't. But I DO get a great feeling from helping people. Sadly, this game isn't about that, except in small ways. But... to each his own. Nice when you find another like that, though.

The United States ganked both Afghanistan and Iraq which were lowbies. I'm just following the example set by my country.
