Macro that, then use it. Alot of visual aspects of the game should increase(beyond what you can get from the Video pane options).

For less ground clutter
set "/console groundEffectDensity #" to something like 100 or 50.

For the full increase, restart WoW and your computer after using the macro.

Yup, I only got a small lag increase though.

I only did the groundEffectDensity one, and put the number around 200.
Going from default "max" to 256 drops my fps by about 10-15.

2gigs DDR2 RAM
Geforce 8800GT 512mb Videocard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6ghz CPU

With default max settings I get average 50 fps, depending on the area I get higher or lower, but usually nothing below 45 fps.

With the boosted max settings, I'm getting 30-40 fps. It'll definitely tax your performance.

My resolution is 1280x1024 with 8x FSAA.

Ruins fps for unnoticeable changes. 0/10.

Change the values in the macro to lower numbers.

More shit on the ground does not mean better graphics. Gives more lag.

I'm not really concerned with upping ground clutter, but I would like to see farther into the distance. Would any of those settings make it possible to see ALL of Teldrassil's height if you were standing at the base of the tree? I've always wanted to see that. :)

You change the value to something close to the original, it instantly changes without reseting so it's easy to do.

use this to reset it to defaults, then re-apply your regular settings in the video panel:

/console groundEffectDensity 16
/console groundEffectDist 1
/console horizonfarclip 1305
/console farclip 177
/console characterAmbient 1
/console smallcull 1
/console skycloudlod 1
/console detailDoodadAlpha 1

I like this addition of grass and ground details in my WOW.

This actually INCREASED my framerate. I'm not sure how, but it did. I went from 45-50 FPS to 60+.

No SLI? I've heard of some SLI setups having worse performance at low settings, but never heard of it for a single video card.
