Q u o t e:
BACK TO MY ORIGINIAL POST!

Now that we have found a few items that are the same for both the Blood Elf Badges and the Zul'Aman badges, which was stated by a forum moderator as being different in order to blend with the look of the new faction/patch. I was only concerned because i wish they gave the shaman gear a new look, so it wasn't the same old gear as the last badge loot.

Yes, please give shaman a bunch of garish feather covered nonsense, so the OP will be happy.

Heh, very doubtful at this point.

Contrary to popular belief (?) designing a new item set does take a while. We usually use color shifts on the same designs to save time, the exception to that would be the arena sets where we want the items to specifically match the PvE counterparts. The choice to color shift is usually when an item isn't something that would benefit from having a unique model, usually a leveling item. In the case of the badge rewards I can see the reasoning to use color shifts for the level of investment taken to acquire them. Is buying an item with badges the same as clearing Black Temple? No, no not really. So, it isn't so horrible if a shift is used.

What I find odd is that in this particular case we seem to have gone against what would normally be shifted, which is the matching dungeon items, and instead shifted from a previous dungeon's/quest items. My only guess is that those shifts were already done, or the artists preferred them to the new design.

Now that the entirety of the art department's is focused completely on Lich King I don't find it surprising that their time spent invested on the badge items were color shifts. The level of quality of the environments, items, textures, models, etc. in the next expansion are far and above better than anything in the game thus far, so I definitely understand the desire to focus as much time of their time on them as possible.

This was my assumption when I noticed that the new resto shaman badge set look nothing like something that the Blood Elves would make. It's understandable, but as a casual gamer this lack of content (meaning a new look) will probably not last me until WotLK comes out. I do look forward to the new artistic work in expansion.

We're begging you to apply this logic to Vanir's fists.

BEGGING YOU. The current models and skins are an abomination. They need to be destroyed. Please, PLEASE use one of the other fist weapon models instead of this one. Recolor the Claw and Talon of the Phoenix, we beg. Hell, use the model for the Sunwell trash drop. We're desperate. Just ignore the primary colors and ridiculous size for a second (if that's possible for you, and if so, I salute you) - look at the clipping problems! They don't just clip our legs; they clip through our legs so they can get close enough to clip each other. Is this WAI? Is this what your art team has decided is acceptable?

Good response Drysc I agree with the logic, and i'd prefer they work on the xpac.

heh so what you are saying is that you guys "mailed it in" when it comes to badge reward/ ZA reward graphics and are just focus'd on Wotlk.

Good to know so i can cancel my account until the expansion because there will be nothing unique between now and then just reskinned recolored old content.

Or even worse content that looks like the Vanir's fists.

This is frequently the excuse and I'm sick of it. It really seems like you're always concerned with things that are not impacting the game right now.

Sure, its a simple art thing, not really that big of a deal, especially when you do have an expansion on the way. There are players that care about how they look, and care about how the game is RIGHT NOW, and not much is being done about it. It's always about something that is 6 months-1 year down the road, and quite frankly, we're too impatient for that.

Can you provide some examples, because I'm not seeing any similarities, unless I'm not understanding what pieces you're referring to correctly.

So, just to clarify...

The shaman mail pants from 2.4 Badges EXACTLY match the Zul'Aman/2.3 Badge shaman pants? And don't at all match the rest of the new 2.4 Badge "set"? That goes against what you were just saying about designing one new look. I like it, by the way. At least, I like the chest, which has the new look.

I am guessing this is an error that will be fixed, correct? Why would they design a new chest piece and not a matching skirt or pair of pants? It must have just been left out of the patch and will be updated. I hope. I would hate for my pride and joy (i.e., my main) to be horribly clashing.

And I vote for a skirt look, btw. :) Although, like I said, this was probably already designed and just not included in the final patch for some reason. Please fix!!!

Please don't change the way the badgecaster crit robes look in lieu of complaints here. I don't want to make my life work around long raiding schedules to clear BT but I love the way the robes of arugal look and I can't wait to be wearing "them" soon.

No no, I think the art team stole from the hunter's armor vault for that first one. ;p

The stats on badge gear may be better than my well-deserved raiding epics, but I'm not going to downgrade both in style and pride just for that :P How snooty of me.

So, um, other than environments and concept art sketches... when are we going to be seeing the fruits of their labor in full force?

The wait between bits of information right now is far too long.
