The queues on the arena server out of of control if you want this tournament to be successful. At a minimum it has been 5-6 minute queues, and the higher your rating is, the worse it becomes. Glickz and others were talking about experiencing 15 minute queues here: http://www.arenajunkies.com/showthread.php?t=16617
Something has to be done. You can maybe justify it on the live realms, but for a paid tournament, the games need to be much faster.

I 100% agree, if we don't have much time to play for a night, we need to be able to get fast games. Often I have little time between my partner getting on and my raid starting, so I need to be able to get at least 10 games into the period of an hour.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's very difficult to practice with 6m queues, and I shudder to think of trying to get 200 matches in with such large queues. That's 20 hours of waiting for round 1 of the tournament!
Please, please, please fix the queues; it's a gamebreaker. I realize the money we paid extra was to fuel the prize money, not to buy new servers, but we do expect the tournament to function for our money!

We are currently looking into the reason behind the long queue times, and will report back as soon as we get more information.

Q u o t e: Does the game queue you up with teams that have similar ratings? This might be the cause of the long wait times, unless 2k+ teams are interested in playing with 1500k- teams...
Possibly during the practice weeks of the qualifying rounds the entropy could be lowered so that "skill matching" isn't as aggressive.
This is the same issue that's on live servers if you try and play 2v2 at peak times (or try to play any bracket on Mondays.) Here, you'll hit ~6-7min queues trying to play at like midnight regardless of your rating.
I do appreciate blue looking into it, and would just still like to emphasize the importance of "fixing" the queues as quickly as possible, there's a little more at stake here than there would be on normal servers. ;)

I just wanted to let you all know that we are actively testing the queues, and should have more information within a few hours.

Thanks. We gave up last night after going 25 minutes in queue at about 1850, when two teams only 60-100 rating below us got 2-3 games each during that time.

If it is simply a hardware issue and you have a lack of servers to support the number of people queuing I will be quite disappointed. We paid quite a bit of money and I think about 500 people with 20 bucks each (s small percentage of the total number who paid) you could buy enough virtual servers to support placement and space of all these teams. But thanks for at least letting us know you're trying we appreciate it a lot, nothing worse than being in the dark completely.

Update last night (Thurs 4/3). 3v3 queues were 6 minutes average unti 1-2am CST, at which point they dropped to 3 minutes.
3v3 queues on Shadowburn battlegroup were <1m the entire night, though.

It wasn't a hardware issue, just a setting in the code, which we found and fixed very early this morning. We'll monitor the queues throughout the day to see if we need to make further adjustments.

a related question...
are skirmishes disabled during the tourney? I had queued for a few while dueling and after about 45 min i gave up and figured they were inactive. it would be nice to practice without having to go through the trouble of joining a team and then leaving later.
