Cool. Thank you so much, Irian. Our Technicians have been trying a few things to improve stability and were curious about the external effects of these measures. :)

I'll relay your reports right now.

I know khaz was slightly better, last night and tonight.
Last night was still bad lag, but latency stayed around 900ms, instead of spiking to 2-2.5k as per usual.
Still LOTS of packet loss, 10 second standstill's were still occurring, just not quite so much. It WAS however an improvement from monday/last weeks events.

Tonight - MUCH better, latency stayed below 800, no real spikes, still having some standstills though.

If you and your colleagues have changed something syndri, it appears (i say appears because you cant blame me for being just a little skeptical lol) to be working :)

Keep up the good work. We are getting there (slowly lol)

Ugh. I'm a Californian at heart, so my mental time zone is stuck there.

When I say "last night," I mean the most recent evening for you folk, occurring roughly 3 to 6 hours ago. Sorry about that. :)

Hahaha, - well then.
RE: The last 8 hours of gameplay.

In comparison to the last weeks worth of unplayability, tonight was a dream.
Certainly playable, not perfect, but ill settle for what its like right now if you can keep it like this before improving it!

Packet loss way less, latency as i said above stayed below 800.
Lag still spiked here and there, but didn't get DC'd or laglocked for more than a few seconds.

The beginning of last night (6:00PM ST - 7:30PM ST) was pretty stable lag wise. However at 7:30PM we started noticing some lag spikes. Random people in our raid would disconnect and would not be able to login until numerous attempts. At 8:00PM ST, the server got worst. Instead of half our raid random Dcing.... everybody was disconnecting. I really hope this issue will be resolved soon. Thanks for looking into this matter.

Yeah. We definitely noticed that both Jubei'Thos and Spinebreaker had a much more difficult time than those players within Oceanic realms on Bloodlust. Already documented and brought to the attention of our Technicians. :)

yep , here is the inevitable Jubei post - last night initially things were not too bad, with just the odd lag spike that was able to be played through if you held your breath.
Then around 8.40 server time - like a ton of bricks a BIG lag spike - game freeze.. all the same deal as has been happening to date.
Multiple disconnects ( most of the raid ) unable to release ( yes because of course we are all lying dead on the floor of BT by now ) and pings up around the 1500- 2000 mark. We decided to call the raid at that point since we only had another 45 minutes of raid time and it seems inevitably once that starts.. it's all down hill from there.....

Head's up, guys—

As I mentioned, our Technicians are presently working out various strategies to best resolve the ongoing latency issue. They're approaching this matter from different angles in attempt to both ensure optimal play time for you overnight folk, as well as guarantee that all the necessary maintenance processes are run.

Because our Technicians are trying these "different angles," you guys may see varying results for the next few evenings. Last evening one tactic; tonight we're trying another. In order for our Technicians to truly understandd the benefits/side-effects, though, we need your imput.

During your peak play times, please report what you experience—good and bad. No latency? Let us know. Latency spike? Let us know. Instance crash? Let us know. Multiple disconnections? Let us know. Vendors non-responsive? Let u—

You get the picture.

Your reports are key here, as they'll give external value to internal data. We'd be greatly appreciative if you would continue to work with us on this. Like, a lot a lot. :)

Will I get paid? =)

Last 2 night on AT were pretty good from my standpoint. An isolated few said they had high latency occasionally but in general it was pretty solid. Even the customary lag on the Isle was almost gone. We didn't have any mass DC's in raids, just the MT on Lurker. But it's only SSC. And apart from me not respeccing and getting kited all over the shop last night, the Arena seemed nice and stable too. Loving the instant 2's queues!

I have noticed only good things lately on Barthilas. Latency is normal ( normal for us: 260-360 ), I haven't experience loot lag for days. Last night at 6:08 PM ( ISO 8601: 2008-04-17T18:08:00+1000 ) I got booted while charging the princess in a Mara run. I was able to log back in again quickly and save the group from wiping, but nobody else was kicked. So let's scratch that one up as a random bug unrelated to this thread, possibly a mac client thing.

I'm still only exploring kalimdor and eastern kingdoms, and doing instances there, so maybe the experience for outlands is different.

Some nights back there was a big problem in barrens where a lot of people got instantly disconnected and it said "world server down" when trying to reconnect. I forget exactly when.

BGs, although I don't play much, bugged in the 19s an hour or two later. No lag issues, but the alliance flag did not respawn and stopped the alliance from being able to cap and obviously the horde from being able to grab the alliance flag. A GM eventually returned it for us: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5974348114&sid=1

In light of all the problems lately though, barthilas seems a lot better lately.

Echoing the rest from Jubei, bad latency (unable to do anything including chat) at about 8.30pm server time yesterday (Thursday, 17 Apr), which should be on GMT+10 hours. This would place it about 3.30/4.30am? at Blizz HQ.

Later on at about 9.40pm server (normal raid start time for us SG people), our raid members noticed loot lag, although chat was still functioning as per normal. NPCs were also non-responsive.

Approximately 5-10 minutes later, spells started functioning again (i.e. I could cast Water Shield and see it come out), however loot and vendors were still intermittently laggy. I hearthed to Shattrath at this point of time, only to be greeted by the sight of no NPCs and portals at all. The NPCs returned at around 10.00pm server time, possibly give or take 5 minutes.

After the NPCs returned, interaction with NPCs was normal (in terms of talking). However, item purchase was laggy (did not recieve item for a while). In addition, trade was not functioning properly, and it would show as Trade Cancelled after a while of the window sitting there with greened-out boxes on both ends (i.e. both players have confirmed trade). This happened several times in a row. Spells were still functioning properly.

At approximately 10.20pm I zoned into BT, and we had a smooth raid run thereafter without lag issues.

The main effect of the lag at the present time is a delay of our normal raid by roughly half an hour to 45 minutes from the usual start time, and most of our guildmates being unable to do their dailies after they come home from work and before raid. Raid adminstration is also partially affected due to being unable to properly trade Marks of the Illidari. It is probably a bigger inconvenience to NZ/AEST guilds who would have laggy periods in the middle of their raid.

Sometimes bad things happen to good murlocs.

Our raid lagged multiple times during hyjal trash on Thursday and wiped once because of it, at one point the entire raid disconnected and was unable to log in for 10 minutes because the instance server was not found. On the previous night during Black Temple after we had killed Shade of Akama our raid became loot lagged and had to wait around 15-20 minutes to recieve loot and badges from the boss. Some of our members decided to abandon their badges in favour of saving 20 minutes of their time and attempted to leave the instance via hearth and instead got stuck on a load screen for an equal length of time.

We raid between 7:30 and 10:30 server time on both these days.

@#$@#@

i spoke too soon.

Barthilas. Un'Goro Crater. Timestamp: 2008-04-18T23:06+1000 This character.

Huge lag spike that has been going for 3 minutes now. Latency over 3000 MS. Caused me to die. The mob I was attacking started doing nothing for about 15 seconds, then we'd hit each other, then nothing for another 10-15, then i'd get hit twice, I coudln't do anything. Caused me to die since I was essentially trying to win a fight on auto-attack.

About 5 guild members went offline during that time. Presumably they have been disconnected. People in /1 are complaining about the lag.

What sucks is having to spend 5 minutes walking back to my corpse probably only to die again for the same reason. I feel sorry for anyone actually working in a gropu on something more involved than solo questing.

Thanks, guys. :)

Thursday night's experiences were likely smooth due to the fact that our Technicians disabled all the normal scripting processes that run in the AM (PDT) hours; similarly, Jubei'Thos continued to see the same pattern, since all testing is presently only occurring on Bloodlust (as a control).

While latency did indeed improve, it's absolutely necessary that those processes are run at some point during the day. Our Realm Techs are working with this concept currently, attempting to decipher a workable solution that neither impedes your progress, Oceania, nor interferes with any other scheduling. It's trickier than it may sound, so it'll likely take a few nights of trial-and-error before something solid is established—a fact for which I really do apologize. The only way to conclusively know whether or not the potential resolutions on the table will work is to see what happens when Oceanic population peaks.

That said, thank you so much for your continued feedback. I'll send it over immediately.
