Did MT this evening, and after spending 2 hours to clear FAARRR too many trash mobs, we kill Kael'thas Sunstrider. But I die right as he dies, and I of course am the only rezzer, so I have to run back.

But in the 2-3 minutes it took me to get back, his body freakin disappears, before I can loot his head for quest.

Great waste of 2 hours. Thanks. Fix this.

Yeah, I was really uber excited. /sarcasm

Had a sh!t tank, so ended up with a 40g repair bill, and lots of running back... And the quest was the only thing I wanted out of there anyways, so I was genuinely pissed when this happened.

I had to log before GM could address my issue. I got the generic "Cannot fulfill your request at this time" in my email. Thanks Blizzard.

In game GM told me he cannot give me the quest item since I can just retry the quest. I understand the rule behind it but there should be some flexibility, especially when I could restart the quest, clear Magister's Terrace, have me and the healer die during the Kael'thas fight and find myself in the same predicament.

I hope a blue sees this soon.

For me the body didn't disappear but 2/5 were unable to loot the head. Myself and one other. Actually the strange thing was I was able to grab both of the other drops...the Epic Mail chestpiece and a 2H axe.... (no one else wanted them). But there was no head to be found.

We wiped on the first attempt, then on the second we made it through the phoenix and the first round of "toss the dwarf into the floating orbs".

4/5 died around 17%. Shaman solo'd him to the end..which in itself was amazing (Kara/SSC geared). I personally released at around 5% and started to run back...by the time I got back in he was dead.

A GM ticket yielded a typical canned response...sorry we can't give you quest hints. Well I don't need a hint....the quest was obvious...kill boss, get head. Or in my case...don't get it.

Oh well. I guess I'll have to go back again.

i had this same thing happen to me. was within 100yds when kael died then released to run back since i was the rezzer. Mob despawned by the time i got back :-/

Did you read the original post? He released after he died and the body was gone by the time he got back.

No, he's trying to explain that if the rest of the group had waited to loot until he got back, then the body would have stayed for 1 hour. OP got screwed by his group, not a game bug.

So the normal decay time of 1 hour doesn't apply once the loot has been checked, even if there's still loot on the corpse? This may not be a bug but it should still be changed.

The real issue is that the run back once you're dead to get to Kael is so long.

We ran Magisters for a guildmate of ours so he could complete the quest. Our healer was a druid and could not rez due to having burned the brez earlier on. The guildmate stayed with us until Kael was dead, so that he could see and decide if he needed any loot before releasing. Kael's body despawned before he got back to us. So he was there, next to Kael but dead when Kael was killed. Could you please just increase the despawn timer of Kael's body ?
