Q u o t e:
There's so many places that could be mentioned. Every place has so much attention to detail, the whole world just screams slaving over every hill, tree, creek, everything is designed to amazement. Each zone has its own unique life, even the desolate Badlands seem to just be alive with all the roaming predators, ogre tribes, and Dwarves mining away. Blizzard did a phenomenal job bringing Azeroth to life, and of course we're doing a good job blowing everything up.

Wait, my post was positive, constructive, and not offensive or flaming.
uh...
YOU SUCK.

Glad you enjoy it....IMHO they did a great job, but its by far not the most detail environments I've seen in a game.....MMO-wise....EQ2 "looks" better , Vanguard has more detail as well...in games in general...Half Life 2 -- stunning graphics....

I really would like to see an MMO with the graphic quality and detail of like HL 2 w/ all eye candy on...

However WoW does a good job.

;)

Some of my favorite spots:

-Stonetalon Mountains: At night, on the path up to the peak, with the full moon out, the starry sky and the trees all around you. Reminds me of camping in the mountains when I was younger.

-Maraudon: The cave that opens up to the sky with all the waterfalls.

-Felwood: The Jaedenar area, right after you go across the little "land bridge" from the main road, turn north and ride up the hill, the sky will turn to oranges and reds for a brief couple seconds, but if you go too far, its gone and goes back to the typical Felwood haze.

-Feralas: The western part of the zone when you're riding along the road and turn north, you cross a bridge with a huge cliff on the left and a waterfall on the right. Its rather majestic.

-Caverns of Time: This is a new one, and if you haven't been here yet, I suggest you check it out. Its very surreal.

Honorable mentions:
Duskwood (Darkshire and Raven Hill, the ambiance is awesome)
Azshara (the coast)
Elwynn Forest (at night)
Thousand Needles (Shimmering Flats at night)
Winterpring
Stranglethorn Vale (the reef off the northwest coast)

Deeprun Tram.

I saw this place in beta and I decided to pre-order the game.

Why would you need any add-on other than CTraidassit anyway?

There used to be a test zone that mages could get to by blinking out of Deadmines that was just a very cool place to hang out.

SS to prove it:

PS
Very old picture. You can no longer blink out of VC the last time I checked

If at first you don't suceed, roll a hunter.

Although kind of off topic, my wife asked me last night -- 'What was the first guild I was in?' and it got me thinking.

I remember when I first loaded up the game and logged my Undead Mage on ... Brill, Silverpine Forrest and even Tauren Mill were, to me, simply amazing.

I have yet to come across an encounter, place or instance that rivals those memories. I have leveled several characters to 60, on both factions, but nothing compares to the first few days of playing the game. Unfortunately, once you level one (on both factions) character to 60, it's nowhere near as fun doing it again.

It's the same place(s) with subtle differences, same quests and same mobs. All that is left is raiding and PvP and even that gets old ....

I'd say either raining Stratholme or Teldrassil (and possibly Karazhan if you count unreleased stuff, from one of the prievews I saw its a breathtaking castle.).

Q u o t e:
IMO Dun Morogh, specifically the approach up to Ironforge, is the most beautiful spot in WoW and maybe in any videogame that I have seen. (I also still love Nyleve's Falls in Unreal, though that game's graphics have decayed to the point where I need to put a healthy coat of nostalgia on them.)

I used to find the Barrens a bit too desolate, but I've come to feel it's one of the most beautifully crafted zones -- the rolling hills, the wide plains, the zhevras and giraffes wandering about. You know you are Horde when you see that crappy Xroads tower off in the distance and think "home!"

Totally agree. The first time I left Kharanos and headed towards Ironforge, I looked up and said "OH MY GOD, it's awesome!!"

I also love the whole look and feel of Duskwood. It's "pretty" in a sort of "Nightmare on Elm Street" way :)

I think the dock in Feralas, that goes to the allaince stronghold. If you go there at night, it can be a very beutiful visual experience. Allthough Durotar has always had a somewhat magical feel to it for me. Now that we are talking about it, durotar needs duststorms!

Well there are a few, and most have been mentioned that are my favs. In order I would have to say, the griff flight over the dam in Loch Modan heading to Ironforge, the scene blew me away when I first saw it and it still does! A close second would be climbing to the top of Ironforge where the tools and flag are. The airport up there is kind of neat too as is the little battle between trolls and dorfs, but getting down, sometimes I wish I had slow fall.

This is hard to answer....but mabye running north down the road from Ashenvale throuh Darkshore in the moonlight.....the light on the paht is the greatest. (Near the Masters Glaive) But you know, after two years, and toons on both sides, I have seen soooo many beautiful places. It really is hard to describe but there is a place for me in every mood I have. Sometimes I just travel to look, of course those pesky mobs get in the way... gotta be killed and skinned so they don't sully up the view... Even Murlocs in their little villages are kinda relaxing, until they see you then it's game on.....Drama Death 101.

Thanks to all of the artists who paid so much attention to detail even behind a small rock behind an obscure tree....you have made Azeroth my home away from home and even after I get my butt handed to me on a cheap paper plate, even in death there is beauty.

I disagree. When I first arrived there, I was stricken by the realization that, in Warcraft 3, this is what a Fortress must have looked like. A Great Hall can be found in Ashenvale by the logging area, and I think the best representation of a Stronghold is the one in the Desolace (where you have to fight the demon in the middle).

Once I realized that, I freakin loved it. Orgrimmar feels like a safe haven. I've only died there one time, and that was because of a HUUUGE raid. But that raid ended up getting nowhere near their goal. Seeing the masses unifying their force and dominating that raid made me really appreciate the security Orgrimmar provides. Thunder Bluff is pretty fun to defend, Undercity is...just too big...but Orgrimmar has two entrances. If you guard those, you've secured the chokepoints. Love it.

Remember, remember, the 5th of December,
The patch day treason and plot.
I see no reason, for MS and Cleavin',
Since Tseric wants us to spec Prot.
