This has been bugging me for a long time and I'm sure I'm not the only person that has a problem with it. Basically, out of the 9 million people that supposedly play this game (obviously much less per server but you get the idea), your only allowed to have 50 of them on your list. Sure you could all form one big guild and not worry about the friend list but I highly doubt people want to make a guild just so they can free space on their friend list.
Also, we pay for wow don't we? I know its no IM service but I'm pretty sure that the contact list cap on the FREE MSN is around 500 or so, and probably the same if not more on the other services.
I'm tired of always having to go through my friend list when i meet someone I want to add. Usually I have to remove people I haven't talked to in a while but what if they come back after i delete them?
There's probably addons out there that will keep track of people for you but that doesnt make up for blizzard's anti-social friend list caps.

Well if they need more space they might end up removing you too seeing how you no longer see them log in and whisper them. We still shouldn't have to resort to deleting friends anyways, a 50 cap for a game this size is pretty ridiculous. I'd also like to be able to see which friends of mine are online and not just wait for one to randomly whisper me before i can talk to them.

much more needs worried about when it comes to this game over who you can easily whisper because they're on a list. remove anyone from your guild thats in your freinds list and check the option to track guildmates in the interface options.
all else fails invite all your friends to join a custom chat channel.

True, it DOES need a higher cap, but, I just got rid of a lot of the people i didn't care for (No joke) or don't play WoW anymore. That, and the whole guildie tracker is what i use, mostly because i hardly use the friend-system unless they're not in my guild
i hate people who use the "blizzard should fix this before that" excuse. blizzard should fix everything all the time, especially things that people have been complaining about since release. we pay money for this game we should get updates that are good and useful
Blizzard is an evil corporation hell bent on taking your money and wasting your time with little regard to customer service or quality control

I'm so dissappointed - I went to add a new friend and it said I don't have anymore room to add friends? I can't help it that I know alot of WOWers..... :(
I agree, please increase cap to at least .... 200? More?? I guess I will have to start tracking alts on a spreadsheet for now..... :(

Although it's been a long time since I made this post, I still am constantly annoyed by this problem. Regardless of what other people think is "more important", I feel it's still something that needs to be addressed.
Making custom channels to keep track of friends is a pain in the @$$ since the first one to sign on becomes the owner and all mods who log off loose their mod status when they come back. This leaves very little control over making your own channels and basically lets anyone screw up your channel as they see fit.
And sure, you can use a list of more than 50 ppl to keep track of your friends IF THEY WANT TO LEAVE THEIR RAIDING GUILD AND JOIN A "FRIENDS LIST" GUILD.
One thing that HAS been added to the friend list which I find very useful however, is the ability to add notes. Sometimes it's hard to remember exactly who a character is that you were close friends with while leveling up if they did something like take a break from wow for a long period of time. So I can remember why I added someone because they were an enchanter or someone who likes doing organized battlegrounds, or just a good friend I came across.
This is supposed to be an MMO game and always having to try and weed out friends for the sake of having more is just ridiculous. There is approximately more than 10 million players who play WoW and probably at least over 100,000 people per server. I see no reason to have to delete your character's "Childhood friends" just because you need friends that can blacksmith and probably don't actually care about you as long as you pay them.
I hate having to turn into the stereotypical level 70 that turns his back on players of a lower level simply because he needs to stay in contact with people who can perform services that he needs. If I can have over 300 people on my FREE MSN account, regardless of whether I still talk to them or not, why can't I be allowed to have a contact list of more than 50 people for something I pay 30 bucks bimonthly for?
How is a maximum of 50 friends massively multiplayer?

The worst part is the alts...it's the same people on mine...with 10 alts.
>.<
Lotro automatically adds alts to your flist.

Oh by the way, if anyone else is annoyed by this and doesn't think I'm just going overboard lol, I made a TinyURL people can give to the 50 friends they have in WoW so they can make a post here and hope that one day Blizzard will stop telling people they aren't allowed more friends until they stop being friends with someone else. They're so sweet now aren't they? :p
TinyURL . Com / morefriends
(Remove spaces to use since all websites that aren't Blizzard's are supposedly swear words.)
Wow Subscription - $15 per month
Broadband Internet - $30 per month
Not needing a spreadsheet for a friend list - Priceless
There are some things money can't buy, so bother Blizzard about it!

yes i agree that the friends list should be larger but if they dont want to make it larger atleast let us add peoples alts to the same spot on ur list i have a few friends that are alt crazy and i cant keep them all on my list or it gets full all the time so why not make it so they only take one spot its not like 2 characters from the same account can be on at the same time
