One of my friends recently told me about a post from a blue that there was still a pre BC mount and some quests that have yet to be found. I've been trying to figure out if it's actually possible, but I'm not smart enough to know what people can do with private servers to see what things are or aren't in the game. Anyone have any ideas of what's really going on?

Link to the blue post, please?

I've been looking everywhere for it, but I can't find it. Every post I've looked at though that was about the undiscovered mount and quests has had a post about a blue stating it, so I would imagine there actually was a blue post about it

I think they've fallen off; I've looked for them myself. I did have the foresight to grab the last hint of this type of thing when I saw it which is now my sig.

Q u o t e:
There are a few 'Undiscovered' quests that tie into quest drops that were removed in 1.3, but the mount in question was the Phoenix mount.

The phoenix mount isnt a pre BC mount

Which when they posted that, multiple guilds already had it.

Incedentally, the quests I was most interested in while I was exploring for them (and I might return to do that) is the ones you do while dead. When I read the post originally, I believe the number cited was 22 quests to do while dead. Only two are known.

Wowwiki mentions this as well:

Q u o t e:
It was rumored on the official forums that there are over twenty quests that can be accessed in such a manner, though the thread it was posted on has since fallen off the messageboards, so the total number is currently unconfirmed.

I find it likely one such quest occurs in Desolace.

An undiscovered mount wouldn't necessarily require a new model if it had different stats (or they could also employ any number of particle effects). Plus, I believe there are some mount models that aren't currently available in-game (eg. spotted nightsaber) and of course there are many mounts that aren't available cross-faction.

I find it highly unlikely that there could be any substantial undiscovered content in WoW, due to dataminers, model viewers, the extremely high number of players, and (most importantly) the fact that Blizzard most likely wants players to know about and have access to all of the content they develop. After all, the content is only there to serve the customer in the first place; why would they do the work of including it if they didn't intend for it to be discovered?

The only undiscovered content in the game currently is probably discontinued/disabled quests and drops, experimental "off-limits" zones (like the crypt below Karazhan), and bugs and glitches.

Because it's a carrot that some people enjoy. Some people prefer games like Myst over games like Unreal Tournament. Including puzzles and exploration is a great way to give breadth to a game that's ultimately about exploring the "World of Wracraft" and would be remarkably easier to implement than something like programming and balancing Arenas or what have you.

I like the idea of a spectral mount that you automatically ride when (and only when) you're dead. I'd happily do some dead-questing for that.

I'm not old school. I'm just old.

It's not that the stuff was meant to be undiscovered. It's that it hasnt been discovered yet. Ugh, this would be easier if another blue could post something about it again.
