There is no better place, in all of world of warcraft, to mine both tin and copper (in totally equal amounts, usually) than:

Thousand needles.

The entire mass of the "needles" area of this zone, the rock formations, is full of tin and copper mines. By the time you go to nearby gadgetzan, to smelt, you will likely have 60 tin and 60 copper.

I've dropped mining, then picked it up on several characters. What I do is the same thing everytime

1) thousand needles

2) Once you can mine iron, badlands. You stay there up through mining mithril and get 300 skill. Its faster than going elsewhere and trying to mine khorium, in fact you can leave badlands at 300 and go directly to mining in BC.

3) don't forget, as SOON as you can mine/smelt gold, buy a bunch of gold ore from the AH. This is one of the few ores that allows quite a few free skillups, as many as 25 or so if I remember correctly. So you stand by a forge in ironforge and get quite a few skillups as soon as you can do gold.

Its a great place to mine, but if you dont have close connecting FP yet, it will take you more than 1/2 hr or running just to get there. You will need to get there at some point, but initially, its a ridicules waste of time. You could have close to 40 tin and copper at other places as you are just arriving at this location.
Good Luck- oh and its horde territory- which can be fun and is one of the poin ts of the game if your on a PVP server. --Great fun.

I find the quillboar areas in between crossroads and camp tarajo are pretty good for this. There are usually 2 copper nodes and one tin node for each camp. You can also check the oasis in the barrens for a tin node each as well.

southern barrens I've found a good chunk of tin and copper, but like was said above 1K is probly the better place for the sheer mass of tin/copper and some iron and a few mithril in the flats.

PvP as an enh shaman is like..bringing a flamethrower to a gun fight, sure it might not be the most effective weapon, but DAMN is it fun!

It might be a waste of time but if you are going down there to run your character through RFK like i did...you can run RFK a few times to lvl up and then the time isnt really a waste you kill 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak.

I would just go through the deadmines a couple of times, depending on what level you are though... they have a lot of copper and sliver in there :)

Then there's probably someone else farming at the same time, southern Barrens usually has an even mix of copper and tin.

And this:

Tin is never as common as copper, so it will always be a little harder to find, but I always found Redridge pretty good for it, especially around the far edges of the zone and in the caves.

That, replying to a necro thread I already replied to before!!!! ;)

FYI: Person above, who said they did not find tin there:

You HAVE TO MINE IT then.

1 K needles has about EQUAL amounts of tin or copper. USUALLY. If you get there and don't see tin then run around and mine more. Using gatherer, or even something like carbonite with routes -helps.

The way it should work is that you end up with a bag full of 60 copper ore and 60 tin ore.
