Storage space is something we're very conscious of and we're definitely looking to keep providing storage options and upgrades in the future. We've added things like the key rings, profession and class specific bags, bank size increases, guild banks, and of course just throwing more and more slots onto bags. Those types of additional storage options being added are pretty much a given.

There is however the ever present ceiling of storage, not in your bags, but of the physical realms and databases. Bag slots takes up a certain amount of space in a database somewhere, the more possible slots a player can have, the more database space is needed. The only reason we've been able to offer any of the in-game storage upgrades has been through realm hardware upgrades and management. It's sort of a back and forth between what can be stored and what needs to be stored, how and when to upgrade the ability to store more data that needs to be, etc. It's really not as limiting as it may sound, but it's something that has to be taken into consideration throughout the game design process.

I think it was mentioned at BlizzCon that an upgrade to the original backpack is a definite possibility, if for nothing else than to help with its feelings of inadequacy.

i agree that the origional 16-slotter needs some upgradability.

But what REALLY needs to be looked at is Hunters. Hunters should get a key type bag that expands every 10 levels after level 30, and up to that point its an 8 slotter. Its not fair that hunters have 1 less bag than everyone else.

locks i suppose could use something similar, but with my lock i just keep 5 shards with me so no reason to have a special bag.

Hi there. I'm a hunter. I've been out a bag since day 1, and I don't even have the option to bank my bullets.

Hopefully the new legendary should help relieve that slightly, possibly with its effect considered for other high end bows, like WOTLK gladiator bows and such

Between food for pets and arrows/bullets I can see a reason for hunters to need some special bag space options.

lol

Then where is my pet bag that works like the key bag? At times I have so much stuff that I have to set aside a whole block of time just to deal with it all. Is that a part of the game design? If so I want XP for it :)

It's not so bad for my hunter. He usually have one bag free for stuff. I do carry around a lot of consumables and stuff. The 24 ammo bag was a big help. I suffer more bagspace problem on my warrior. My warrior carries a full PvP set as well as a full PvE dps set with various fill ins to make dual wield more friendly. He also have to carry more than a full set of tanking gear. One variation with a focus on avoidance and one variation with a focus on threat. Then comes the consumables that tanking needs. I usually only have 9 free bag spcae on my warrior. All my toons have 20 slot bags.

Well you wont have to worry about that now will you once the death knight hero class is released... all warriors can DPS AND PVP just leave the tanking gear to the deathknight.

Can I ask why you just don't allow items to stack in larger amounts...or some items that don't stack at all to stacks (like soul shards)?

I'm no programming expert...but i'd assume a stack of 20 random gray drops or potions is no more taxing on the server than a stack of 5 of them.

I understand the database issues, but I'm not getting at that. The backspace we have now could be adequete or at least more tolerable with some more give in regards to stacking.

My assumption has been that you all do this as a time/gold sink. It forces players to either make frequent trips to town to sell...or to stop looting certain items if they want to quest/grind/level at a reasonable rate. Either way you go, it's either a time sink (if you make frequent trips to town) or a gold sink (if you stop looting some items or even start deleting items in order to avoid going back to town too often).

I realize that blizzard has certain restrictions to consider but I think tailors should be able to learn [Sturdy pockets] => Permanently add 4 slots to any size bag. Only one set of pockets can be sown on per bag.

This would allow us to increase our backpack to a manageable 20, and still allow for the novelty of keeping the bag.

4 may be to many considering how quickly they upgrade back sizes, so possibly only 4 for the backpack (since its more durable) and all other bags only get 2 extra slots.

For Pony!

Get outfitter and just visit your bank often :) No need to carry PVE and PVP gear at the same time at least.

LAWL you've got to be kidding me. Using database storage space is THE WORST excuse I have ever heard. What happens when someone rolls a new character? Oh they take up more storage space, so to use that as some sort of justification for Blizzards laziness is laughable.

The fact is you're not taking things into consideration...

How many people roll a new character everyday?

Perhaps even the character is stored on your computer's hard drive

And even if it is not stored on your computer's hard drive, it probably isn't more taxing on the server than it is to manage thousands of bags.
