I've gotten lots of cool things from fishing in Steam Pump Flotsam in Serpent Lake, Zangarmarsh. At least 3 Goldenscale Vendorfish, lots of engineering supplies, smoke flares... the other day I even found a journal that taught me "Find Fish" on the minimap, which was totally awesome.

Yesterday, I came across this thing.

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34469

Needless to say, I was really excited. I recognized the quest return as a gnome that I got my mote extractor training from. I thought that turning in this engineering part from the steam pumps would teach me something totally cool, and exclusive to only engineering fishermen.

The real rewards? I got 9g and a pat on the back. Kind of disappointing, when I was thinking I'd learn how to make some cool fishing pole including "Capissen 38" in it. How awesome would that be?

Oh well, I thought I'd post this and see if anyone shared the same feeling when they thought they got something cool and turned out crap.

PS: I'd like to hear any other really cool things you guys have fished up in outlands, and where... standing outside Allerian Stronghold leveling at 341 atm is getting monotonous.

Cheers!

That quest is repeatable, FYI. So just think of it as extra cash in your pocket when you do your fishing in Zangarmarsh.

I AM the best engineer in the world, thanks!

See, the best part of this whole thing is that it is a Firefly reference. :) Has any other show that was been canceled after a scant 8 episodes ever generated such a loyal fan base?

Eventually you'll just get tired of fishing despite the fact it is quite profitable. At this point I have close to 12k gold so there isn't much point in fishing up primal water or steam pump debris, etc. I have up on Mr. Pinchy a long time ago.

I find it amusing that you are complaining about a quest that horde can't even have.

"It REALLY SUCKS getting 8 extra gold for doing something I already do. I hate money!"

I'm working on my first actual fishing character I must admit, I've never even had one to 300 even. I enjoy the experience quite a bit actually, and I'm playing collector with cooking recipes at the same time. I'm trying to find a good way to recast though, I've tried some of the mods that allow a right-click recast but it's not working for the setup I have.

Anyway, along the lines of fishing we're adding a new daily quest for fishing. Once 2.4 goes live (or once the PTRs are up) you'll want to visit "the mysterious old man" near Silmyr Lake outside of Shattrath. He's sure to offer treasures beyond your wildest dreams... or ramble on about how they had to color their own margarine during the war. Either/Or.

*does the fishing dance* woot :D

Keep working on the fishing Drysc, it's well worth it if you have a character (i.e. healer or tank) that you'd prefer not to try and kill stuff with without assistance.

Awesome show, and there are 14 episodes.

(Three of those never actually aired on TV.)

If you think its bad now you should have done it the old fashioned way before the lowered the cast times and garunteed a bit with each cast. did it on my hunter and it sucked.

Having to be the guy to fish out the boss in ZG FTL.

I also think that anytime a Lock states in any forum post anywhere that another class should be nerfed, that the thread is officially over based on overwhelming silliness. -

Fantastic news! Thanks for the info!

As far as recasting goes, I have it keymapped to the large zero on my 10-key pad. Easy to find without looking and not far from your mouse if you're a righty.

OOohhh... fun!

"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

I'm really happy that my fisher-toon is my mage. Surely the fishing quest will involve travel to some far off pond that no one ever visits?

I'll put me to sleep, but I'm betting the rewards will be cool.

There is a great guide on wowwiki.com on how to level fishing and cooking together.

I have my interface set with toolbar 4 button 7 tied to one of the extra buttons on my mouse. That way I can drop "cast" into that slot and fish one handed. ( beverage + fishing = win! ) Having that slot bound to the mouse button also works for raids. Drop commanding shout or thunderclap into that slot and never have to search for the button. BAM!!
