I know there are more than a few of us colorblind folks out there that would LOVE to have things not changed, but maybe add some data/info to help us figure things out.
For example, I can't tell if an item is blue or purple. I've been hosed out of a few drops I'm sure.
Also I just found out there are orange quests??
I can't tell.
I know there are others in my guild alone who struggle with the color coding madness blizz loves so very much.
I've tried the only colorblind mod I could find but it's broken and does not work with the new patches.
Perhaps it's time for blizz to step up and make a few changes (like putting "Blue" on a weapon or "Purple").

Thanks for reading. =)

Way to be an ass. Anyways, I also am not colorblind however I do know some who are. It is a very real issue, one deserved of the few hours it might take blizz to implement.

I am color blind and farming herbs used to be painful in certain zones Blizz did make the sparkles on herbs and it helped a lot (not sure if this was because of color blindness).

I think if they could just add a P for Purple, B for Blue, and G for green somewhere in the item description would also be cool.

OP should have people link one of each type of item to him (Green, Blue, Purple, Orange) and write down the color he sees it as to use for later reference.

If only it were that easy. I have to link all items that i don't know the names of or ask a friend i party with.

BTW you are not a genius you might want to wiki color blindness or go to webmd for a better explanation.

so maybe they should add an interface option that allows you to make it into words...but people who disagree ( wont say anything because of possibly geting banned) can play the game like usual???

Correct me if im wrong, but i assumed whatever color you saw would remain constant. Like Purple for you is pink or something So everytime you see an item thats SAY, pink, you would know its really an epic.

That way you link one of each type of item thats common and you know, and from there you know the corosponding color it will be in the future for future items of its quality.

FOR EXAMPLE

Some crap shield of the bear: Green ----> you see it as purple. Therefor everytime you see a purple item you know its a green. amirite?

Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros: Orange ---> you see it as green. Therefor everytime you see a green item linked in trade you report that person for being an annoying kid that thinks its funny to link Thunderfury a million times.

:D

Im still a genius. :(

I recall a mod that helped colorblind gamers differentiate between which colors are which though I doubt it has been updated in awhile (last time I saw it was in 2006).

Colorblind

Aloft (addon which allows you to adjust nameplates)
Allows customization and enchance how nameplates and nameplate casting bars appear in the game.

It would probably make more sense to use the item quality (P) for poor/grey, (C) for common/white, (U) for uncommon/green, (R) for rare/blue, (E) for epic/purple, (L) for legendary/orange, (A) for artifact/red (of which theres none in the game atm).

That gives the levels as P, C, U, R, E, L, A
instead of G, W, G, B, P, O, R, of which you'd have to change either Grey or Green to a different symbol.

This would then make the names of the items show up as (E) Badge of Justice, and I agree with a later poster about the idea of having it be a toggle in interface options.

some colorblindness is that they cant tell the difference betweeen two colors. My friends father had an orange couch that he thought was green, he could still see green as green though.

it wouldn't be that hard to put a colorblind option in the interface options menu, which would display the color words

Same. I imagine it must be hard. :-( And you can't always trust people in PUGs to tell you the truth if it's blue or purple. Is there an add-on that can help announce the color of things?

Or 'epic' 'rare' ect. It's a great idea IMO. It's more than just a guide for the unfortunate, but a retard check as well for those that 'accidenty' take stuff. They should also impliment the level of the quest in the quest log. It's also saying 'it might be orange, but its barely orange (for a level 16 quest for a level 13 player) ect.
