I'm glad someone finally had the courage to tell us all that WoW is dying. No one has previously mentioned this at all. Ever.

And your evidence for the decline is . . . ?

I doubt it's in full decline, that won't happen til about 6 months after WotlK.

Then people will be frustrated by something, or perhaps it won't live up to their expectations of the future designs and directions of each character, more fotm chars, more repetitious play, it will be the last beacon for the remaining hopeful.

Unless there is some drastic gameplay updates, not graphical or loot or dungeon, but the way the game is played itself and the activities involved in it, there will be a departure of fans over time after WotlK content becomes saturated.

If we consider Everquest, which I think topped in the neighborhood of 400k subscribers and it's still going, I think you're comment is off by at least a decade.

WoW could lose 50 % of its subscribers tomrow and guess what it will still be the # 1 mmo

EVERY MMO has a climb a stedy period and decline .. part of the decline to people going to new games and part is people waiting for WoTLK

the sky is not falling the game is not going to stop ANYTIME soon heck even eq1 is still prodding along and making money.

Evidence of a Decline is simple:

Market for Games online is Growing, But not as fast as new games are coming out. So out of all new games that come out.... about 1 in 3 fail within months, to be swept under a rug and never spoken of again under pain of death, but those that survive usually fill a nitch that some games find attractive. This leads to games losing people over time.

Simple math, as for wow, No new servers in months because the need was not there, Free character transfers because other realms are suffering from previously mentioned loss, and no news on numbers in a very long time coming from a company that likes to blow its horn every chance it gets.

All signs point to a Decline.

As soon as Bliz sees that the game is in true decline, they will go the Sony route and start releasing cookie cutter expansions every 6 months to milk the game's most addicted players until their eyes, and wallets, bleed.

I'm scared for humanity that so many people are buying Teen Style Stuff. However, point being that WoW is not doing bad in sales at all for a game that's been around for 3 years, and the decline of WoW has been predicted for nearly as long. ;)

The problem with this logic is that Blizzard wasn't releasing new servers months before tBC came out, they weren't releasing numbers then either, but the expansion brought even more people. Haven't all free character transfers come from overpopulated servers, not underpopulated ones?

Wait for WotLK to come out and we'll see if your theory still holds.
