So how do guilds handle actual female players. In my guild there are alot of people (guys) who talk in a perverted way and we have a couple female players. They dont want to talk in vent due to the way that some other people talk. I can understand why they dont want to speak up..because they dont want to be singled out.

I treat them just like male players. If they want to just be handed free epix and gold they better nude up and start handing out the pics to prove they're really female. I've been gaming too long and seen too many "female" players who turned out to be guys to really give a flip what gender you say you are. You're just another player to me and all I care about is whether you can do your %!!!ing job in an instance/raid/arena/bg/whatever.

Better to treat the male players no different from the female players, if you catch my drift.

I used to play with a female Gnome warrior. This character swore, trash-talked, and guzzled enough booze to make a Dwarf jealous.

Then the guild picked up Vent.

Turns out the player was female. Didn't change a thing.

As a female player, I don't expect the males in the guild to have a put a filter on for me.

Now, as in some guilds I've been in, I always have the choice to leave if I feel the jokes and comments about women have become too raunchy and offensive.

don't guild with 13 year olds?

Most female players like to %*#!talk and get perverted more than guys.

I know, in your world, women are a strange species that is hard to deal with, but I promise they aren't as alien as you think.

Well, believe it or not, we treat the men and the women in our guild like people. Shocking, I know.

I can think of a few ways I would "treat" a female player differently, I don't know about you though....... but to each their own

BS. I hear tootsie treats them exactly the same ;)

And I dont' censor myself around the guild's women. I did not sign a "talk like a choir boy" agreement when I joined. They don't like it, they can deal with it.

Fortunately, most of the women I find playing MMO's are fairly laid back about that sort of thing

I guess thats where maturity comes in.

We have mostly men in our guild. Yet we do have several females as well... including myself.
We are treated with nothing less than the highest respect and they dont talk like immature children to us or around us.

Guess it depends on the maturity and age range of the guild members.

We have 2 real girls in our guild. The lvl of peverted talk on our vent is quite minimal but both will joke along. Also the peverted jokes are never directed at them of course.

It works both ways though, the girls should realize if they're sitting around with 24 guys there's going to be some lvl of 'guy' talk, but the guys need to be respecful if there are women around and keep it 'semi' decent.

It's no different then in real life, the chatter is different if it's 10 guys drinking, then if it's 9 guys and girl drinking.

Why do men automatically assume its just women who want the epix handed to them? I've seen plenty of men do the same. And if a girl is in your guild, treat them the same as you would in real life. If you don't want to be polite while they are around (or on vent), then why worry about it?

Pretty much. I thought that this would be easy for guys to do, but I guess not. My guild on my old server pretty much collapsed over the fact that I was female. I was in a premade with a guy who got turned on by my voice and decided that his guild could use one more mage, even though the guild was full on mages, and begged me to join, saying they needed me. I did, and spoke with them on vent again... an older female member of the guild got jealous and decided that I had "Seduced" the guy into making me join, started calling me a "%%*%#" and a "#*##!" over officer chat and saying I had to go. There were huge fights between the officers. The men wanted me to stay, the women wanted me to go. Nobody told me about this, of course. My 2-week "testing period" in the guild turned into 2 months, the pinnacle being when I actually won a piece of gear, which I would have gladly passed on if I had known about the drama. After two months they kicked me saying "Sorry, we've decided that we don't need another mage at this time." I was furious with them, and so were several members, as I had used those two months to make a lot of friends and had been telling my family how happy I was in this new guild. A couple of members left the guild over it. Finally I was invited back, but that older female refused to group with me or my little brother, who later joined.

Anyway, if any of these people had had the guts to treat me like a normal human being, it wouldn't have happened. I left WoW shortly after all this drama and didn't really miss them, which is a shame, because most of them were really nice people.

As for me, I do treat guys diffferently than girls. As a nerd, in high school most of my friends were guys, and their usual means of expressing friendship was to berate each other mercilessly, make fun of each other playfully, etc :). I do this to the guys that I consider friends, but I avoid it with the girls because they tend to take me seriously. If I'm saying something mean, I'm usually never serious about it.

Back from an 8-month hiatus, I don't really play the mage anymore, so don't whine about my spec/gear.

Also playing LOTRO - check it out if you get bored here ^_^.

You treat everyone the same way you would like to be treated. If guys can't keep their ##!!s in their pants because of a female on the Internet, then I cannot imagine what it must be like in real life when they meet one.
