The new models are horrible. I'll admit, from the front you can't really see how monstrous they are, but from the side it's ridiculously disproportionate.

If you hold up the new model to a picture of the old one, it also becomes apparent what a large degree of mass was added.

The slender model was better.

Change them back.

I'm sorry...but they're still too muscled. I won't be playing a blood elf. I had been particularly focused on one to RP with...but alas. This girl here will be sticking to alliance and to female characters. Boo. I was really looking forward to a male character to play that wasn't gross (I really hate ALL the male models for this game).

WoW should take a hint from LOTRO and DDO and Vanguard. Sliders people. Sliders.

yes, I agree

As a girl (i'm not speaking for all females) I was anticipating playing a non-steroid consuming, good looking male character.

Thanks blizz, for catering to all of the guys who's dream is to become the next strongest man in wow

im here to show my full fledged support of the new models. Im glad that blizzard broke the weak, wussy elven stereotype and made them just a little more masculine, where they are distinguishable from the women. my hat off to blizzard and their good work. :)

I'm sure every male runner, swimmer, cyclist, gymnast, martial artist, fencer, skateboarder, speedskater, skier, and tennis player is likewise difficult for you to differentiate from a female.

Your manner of expressing support for the new models shows that your sense of machismo is just as dangerously overdeveloped as their new musculature.

Change them back.

They broke the stereotype of a fictional race? Give me a break. Elves should be slender, not musclebound. I want to play a graceful and attractive Elf. Is that so wrong?

The other male races, even the Night Elves, already have males with huge muscles, so if that's your preference, you've already got plenty to look at. We're just asking for one race which is sized normally. What better race than the Blood Elves?

What if they deformed all of the female models? I'm sure lots of people would have complaints about that and want at least one normally-sized female. Why can't we have the same with males?

Wow... I guess I'll just post this over and over and over and over and over until you guys come out of denial. The photos before showing the change were NOT photoshopped. They came from these videos.

Old Blood Elf Model (At the end)
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4679257234238679803&q=blood+elf&hl=en

New Blood Elf Model
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=42315528289738158&q=blood+elf&hl=en

The difference is very clear. It's very easy to manipulate screenshots to show a desired effect. Videos don't lie.

Agree with almost everyone. Change them back. Change them back now.

The loudest and most frequent complainers are those who argue vs the status quo. Thus the "change them back crowd." The we like them better now crowd is certainly more numerous but is silent because we got our way and there's no need to post about it. But here's a cheer for the new look!

What does being thin have to do with being effeminate? We don't want them to be effeminate, we want them to be slender and normally-proportioned.

Blizzard didn't get rid of any of the effeminate Blood Elf phrases nor the effeminate Blood Elf voice. If you don't like things that are effeminate, then have Blizzard change those things. Making the male Blood Elf super-muscular has nothing to do with how feminine he is.

Though I am a supporter of the old Blood Elf model, these movies with the "new" model do not need to be shown over and over again since we have a beta tester who's posted screenshots of the actual new models.

Frankly, as a beta player, you're pretty far off. The change is hardly noticable. They still look quite slim and lean, and they actually look more natural now. Even from the side, it still looks quite slim.

doesnt look too effeminate to me. And what does me calling them wusses have to do with being a homophobe? What are you implying? straight men can be wusses too. Shows your level of thinking with an immature stereotype.

not really, they really aerent that big compared to before, they are average sized. If my machismo was overdeveloped, id be complaining to make them bigger. I just want them to have some masculinity rather then none. Keep the new models blizz.

As many players have noticed, we have made a slight change to the male Blood Elf character models. In response to concerns that the Blood Elf male appeared to be too feminine, and after reviewing the model from a visual and conceptual standpoint, the decision was made to increase the body mass to give them a more substantial, masculine feel. It was also important that as members of the Horde that the Blood Elves gave the impression of strength and a more menacing presence.

Please be aware that all beta content is still subject to testing and can change at any time.

first - I don't think that the change was significant enough to have people up in arms...but that's just me.

Well, from the screenshots which have been posted on these forums, this doesn't appear to be true at all. Perhaps you have some screenshots which suggest otherwise?

If not, don't worry about it. I mean, the screenshots we've seen make the change clear enough, and while it may not be noticable to you, I find it very noticable. So if you don't notice, then don't worry about it. But those of us who do notice, want it changed back.

Nethaera, my heartfelt thanks for addressing the player concerns.

I would in that case hope each of my responses regarding the "blood elfz R teh not masculine Enuff" point of view be forwarded to the dev team.

The mass increase made them monstrous, not masculine.

It's horrid.

Change it back.
