Q u o t e:
Naive thinking. they add value to compete in the market. It is another reason that people will 1) come back 2) stay 3) come for the first time. Even without market concerns, don't you think if they hadn't developed and supported this, they would have been able to develop something else? To think that you are not paying for development efforts is naive in the extreme.
Compete in the market? If you haven't been reading the other posts they ARE the market...what alternative sources are there for a database of World of Warcraft characters of this magnitude? There is none...I've read about how countless people are complaining that the armory put CT Profiles out of business, so if you're trying to say that I'M naive then you should really think through what you say before you make untrue generalizations to seem more intelligent. And like the one poster after both of us said, they most likely have a completely different team of people working on this. What else would they have developed? If they're making us pay the same price yet they start GIVING US a wonderful database like the armory you tell me how that's naive thinking. You are not paying for development efforts because something has been added yet the price per month has not fluctuated. Therefore, using COMMON sense you can come to the conclusion that we are NOT paying for development efforts, because if we WERE then the other content would suffer (i.e. quality or quantity of patches) which it has NOT, OR we would be paying more.

I just love how people piss and moan that their data is out there for the world to see, be it for trashing other players' builds to spying out early arena groups for specs, etc etc. Now it's not available and same people piss and moan that they can't get to the same data on a moments notice. Wanna research builds? Look at forum posts. Look up gear? wowhead. Can't stand not being able to see your toons when not playing? Try doing more work at the job or school. /lol

Q u o t e: I like all the people posting arrogantly about how Blizzard has this obligation to fix the armory, as if we're paying for it, or Blizzard made a promise to spending a large chunk of their own resources to keep a free site well-maintained and fixed asap, or that talking in such a manner will somehow make them fix it faster. In reality, they *could* just cancel the armory and be 100% justified, and we could all go back to making our own characters on CTprofiles, so quit whining. It *is* a free service, it *is* in Beta, and you *should* be thankful that Blizzard is even working on providing a usable version to us for free.
That being said, I came to these forums looking for information on the widespread data refresh problem, and I'm glad that it's being worked on. Thanks for the reply.
They have almost 9million subscribers, paying around $15 a month plus around $25-50 initial cost + another $25-45 for the expansion. So yea, with all that extra spendin cash, i do expect a lot.
As for the people saying "oh its just been a couple days", no. Its been like this for weeks. It started half way through december giving the "character data unavailable" msg on toons i know were active, and slowly over the next 3 weeks got worse and worse. Its been malfunctioning for almost a month now. That is simply unacceptable. They have the cash, they have the resources, they have the manpower.
No you cant go back to ctprofiles. The site is down. Blizz put them out of buisness. Blizz knew what they were getting into before they started the project. Dont step up to the plate and then not even swing at the ball. These arnt just a bunch of guys doing side jobs for fun for us. They are paid proffesionals doing a job to make money, and trust me, this service puts dollars in their pockets, which is why they have it available to us as a beta, not to be nice.

For those experiencing issues still, try logging in and out again. Since last night, all seems well. Every one of my toons and the profiles I typically check are back online for the people who have logged in and out within the past 24 hrs or so. Seems that it's all coming back up, though maybe we'll see a little lag as it tries to restore the better part of 9mil profiles.

Still seems broke to me, it's actually causing my browser to crash every time I try to view it. I know they're working on it so.....humm....nothing more to do but wait and see.
Q u o t e: Update: The armory maintenance is now complete and the issue affecting character searching has been resolved. Please be aware that it may take some time for each character to update, so please try again if you still experience an error when searching for a given character. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Thank you again for everybody's patience.
