I'm pretty sure the US logon servers are being blocked this morning in China (Sunday morning, 12/16 in China...Saturday evening in the States).

Evidence:
1) I cannot access the game nor the blizzard websites, including this forum.
2) I can use my work VPN to get website access to blizzard sites (still no game connectivity).
3) Tracecert (us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com) gives me "unknown host" message
4) I am not alone. The discussion on the subject has started on Shanghai Message boards (www.shanghaiexpat.com for example).
5) I work for a multinational internet company (i.e., Microsoft or Google or Yahoo) and let me just stay simply, I recognize the symptoms.

Good news is that the Chinese government can be quite erratic and unpredictable and this could clear up in a matter of hours on its own. Bad news is, it could just as easily last days or even weeks or even more if you don't start asking questions of certain government organizations immediately. There is not single government entity but a host of about 5-7 agencies, any one of which who could either be a) trying to make a point or b) don't even know they are doing it (mistakes often occur just as frequently as intent. (Have your TheNine partner look into this and apply pressure asap. They are very well connected).

Regards.

I'll back up what the original poster is saying, only in a much less informed way. As of this morning, neither my girlfriend nor I can connect to any US WoW servers, or the WoW website. Just posting this was a pain.

Having the same problems as original poster and am only access forum by using Tor.
Question is how to get this resolved, and if not in the Technical forum then who do we post these matters to?

None of you has so much as posted a traceroute. All you have done is make a specious accusation that Blizz is blocking an entire continent.

How about doing something with YOUR government? It's not Blizzard's problem....

Why don't you try being more helpful or move along. It is a very difficult process for most of us to even proxy serve in order to post on this message board for assistance.

If this is not the proper forum because of the way the Blizzard forums and/or customer support is organized...then do us all a favor and tell us where to post and or PASS IT ALONG to Blizzard management.

Actually, it is Blizzard's problem too. That's how this stuff works. If you want to do business in a country (and they do tremendous business in China), you have to have mechanisms for sorting out these types of complexity (just ask Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo).

You offer no proof. And Blizz is not going to contact your ISP. Yes they do tremendous business in China. On CHINESE servers. Its not Blizz's job to contact YOUR ISP. YOU are their customer

Oh phooey. In that case, how about talking to those companies about how they manage? If your government doesn't want you to play this game, it's NOT BLIZZARD'S PROBLEM.

[Um.... and we all know why there's that huge business in China, now don't we?]

I don't accuse Blizz of blocking us. I accuse the China government and that Blizz has to apply pressure to have the issue resolved. As mentioned in original post, traceroute provides "unknown server" message (on Mac). On PC, I receive "Unable to resolve target system name us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com".

I know that provides you little to no information from which to form a technical opinion. That's how it works. This is a management crisis more than a technical crisis.

Thank you.

Contact your ISP over there. So far I see 3 or 4 people who say they can't connect. Not an entire continent

Yah.... well, those who are losing all that lovely money are the ones who can apply pressure, ain't?

I think this is related to the current issue with connections from Australia, the fact is that I can connect to blizzard website from office but not from home. Lets wait until that problem is solved before assuming the worst scenario. Sorry to disappoint you but there are thousands of players playing from ASIA on the US servers, paying regulary and not demanding a lag free service.
And, btw this is my tracert
