  • 0. Why is it so hard to sell greens and blues?   12/13/2007 03:48:34 PM PST

Just curious, I remember a year ago when you found greens or blues you could make quite a nice profit selling them on the AH. Now I find lots of great blues and greens between levels 58-63 and they rarely sell. As a matter of fact I even made an enchanting alt to DE them because I was getting more gold selling the enchanting mats. Lower level greens, those actually sell much better believe it or not. Is the reason behind this because buying blue and greens off the AH is a waste of money and it's better to wait a few levels and get quest gear?

Thanks!

Because Outland BoEs are really bad compared to quest and instance rewards, for the most part.

I think people are starting to learn that buying gear as you level up is pretty stupid unless you plan on twinking ( which is still stupid imo, but hey its your $15). If you're just trying to level to 70, just stick with quest rewards/instance drops, etc and save your gold for mount, etc. also, since u mention 58-63 greens, i think they sold for quite a bit more when tbc was fist released. people who didnt have tbc yet and were lvl 58-60 could buy the outland greens that were probably a significant upgrade. now that everyone has tbc they can just go out there for themselves.

Yea, its basically yet another way that blizzard has helped thump the gold sealers on the head.

There isn't as much demand for AH items because most of what you can get off the AH is su-par to quest rewards and instance drops.

IF you really want to make money off greens and blues you need to be selling stuff for twinks.

On top of that, most people in that level range are not going back to visit Azeroth except to train. This means no frequent browsing of the AH so they are less likely to actually see what your trying to sell them.

I'm a low level alt. I don't read other threads.

The majority of people that will by the greens are those that are enchanters looking for good deals where the DEd mats are worth more than the green.

Here's the thing. At that level, you can do the Outland quests that give equivalent if not better rewards. Why waste money on some green when I know in 2 quests I'll be able to get something just as good or better for free. That's why.

Buying gear is for twinks. What kind of idiot twinks at 59-69? That's why.

I think this is could be part of the game evolving over time. Demands for items like this can fluctuate on a per-realm basis depending on things like preparing to level multiple characters versus a quiet leveling period while people save up money/resources. For me the game had a real different change of pace a little before and definitely after the launch of The Burning Crusade and it's possible that we will see this again when we are near the launch of Wrath of the Lich King.

It's because instead of spending 100g on a blue weapon you can pvp for 10 games and buy an epic one.

On the other hand since I've started playing again in the last month I've noticed that lowbie greens new go for exhorbitant prices at the AH, even crap like whale that I used to assume was not even worth trying to sell. I guess the supply is low because most people have 70s by now.

Sometimes its worth buying of AH. I bought Seering Needle with a fiery enchant attached to it for 23g... best money I ever spent, it has lasted me nearly 10 lvls.

I feel that this is a generalization. I agree that depending upon the content, tone and motive of your message it could be discrediting, though this is certainly not always true.

There should be a "Wellfare Epics" version of Godwin. Really, there should be.

There are only a handful of stat combinations on greens that are actually useful to buy. That being said, I don't see these ones too often; I usually get stuck looting some "of one stat" or "plate/mail piece of the whale". No one wants those (no one has ever wanted the whale...).

Blues are touch and go, depending on the class. For the most part, however, the blues will easily be replaced by dungeon drops.

The only exception to the blue rule would be some crafted items (felsteel bs set, fel leather set, clefthoof set, etc), but I don't think these count for your argument.
