Taken and tested from:

http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=1739394019&sid=1&pageNo=1

1. Exit WoW if you're on
2. Open Windows Media Player
3. Start up WoW
4. Enjoy faster loading times

Works for me, but according to that thread, not everyone. Some people even got Latency and FPS increases. If you get a benefit, please post your comp specs and maybe we can see a trend.

Athlon 3200
2 GB ram
GeForce 7600GT
Windows XP

I don't think so, some people in the other thread had improvements with WMP 9. I'm using 11.

Quick test: usually when I load it takes about 5 sec for the actual login panels to appear, near instant with wmp open. Connecting and character/realm swtching seems alot faster.

This is weird, I always thought of wmp as a bloated, useless application. I guess it has a use now until someone figures it out.

edit: my specs

reminds me of how you can stop lag in runescape by opening the oficial world map in another window.

i've always assumed things like this relate to a flaw in code, where the second program's memory requests somhow cause the main program to be alloted more memory by the system.

Worked for me on my laptop. D/C'd for the first time ever while loading, but on retry, loading was faster, in-game items loaded faster, and FPS improved signifigantly.

I'm using a Dell with Intel mobo integrated video, and a 1.6 ghz intel centrino, 5400 RPM hitachi drive, and 2x256 whatever RAM dell put in the machine. So, pretty much crap.

Running XPSP2 fully updated with WMP 10.

I haven't killed Illidan yet because I'm still reading your post.

I've noticed this as well. The only issue is that some radio stations now bug out my router, so I have to find one that works first. XD

This is just like using a plastic bag to make your debit card work in the machine at teh grocery store.

no one knows why it works, but damned if it doesn't work everytime.

I have ovaries. What of it?

Interesting stuff...

I'm on a AMD 4400 Dual-Core
'El Cheapo' Nvidia 7300LE 256MB card
2gb RAM

The first thing I noticed was when I logged in, everyone appeared instantly around the Shatt battlemasters. Prior it'd take a moment for the players to show.

As for the latency increase, that was brief because the program loads some sites in the program. My ping went back to normal.
