First let me say that some of the changes Blizzard made to AV recently I fully agree with. In reality, the BG had become more PVE than PVP and was very stale.
Now that that's out of the way: this BG was a bad idea in the first place. I should temper that statement. The BG is a good idea in that it adds flavor to the BG scene but there is no way to balance two sides when they are not symmetrical within the context of a complex system like an MMO. We all learned this with the class imbalances between Shamans and Paladins. Did giving alliance shamans and horde paladins make the game a little more balanced? I would say yes. In AV, we see the same thing going on. However, assuming that Blizzard isn't willing to radically change the structure of the BG so that it is symmetrical there are other changes that could be made.
First, if Blizzard is so committed to stamping out honor botting then do it for real and not some lame half solution. Reporting a player afk gives that player 1 min. to engage in pvp combat or be kicked from the BG with the deserter debuff. This would include NPC fighting as well of course. The current "solution," as well intentioned as it is, just doesn't work.
Second, bring back Join as Group. In all honesty there was never any reason to remove this feature from the BG. Now there is even more reason to bring it back. With the recent changes, the BG has become increasingly about strategic PVP combat. Allow groups to go in there and execute some cool new strategies. As it is, the BG is a completely bland race that often goes in Horde's favor because it is easier to execute a winning strategy for the Horde. A good group of 20 from one faction would be able to just wipe the floor with the opposing team. Would this really be that hard to implement?
P.S. If you're not going to implement this can we at least get a blue response as to why?

No, it wouldnt be hard to implement, but I don't think groups of 20-40 should be able to queue.
Personally, I think you should be able to queue in groups of up to 5 so you can play with your friends but it's not enough to be totally overwhelming.

We still haven't decided if we want to add this back into the available options for AV. It's understood that people want this ability, but we also are being careful about how this could affect the queue times for this battleground.

Groups of 5 would be awsome.
Big problem on alliance is communication and getting people on the same page. its a lot easier to get 8 groups of 5 to cooperate than it is 40 groups of one.

you mean the it would affect the 10 second alliance ques and the 1-40 min horde ques?

just limit the group size to 15. everyone wins.
groups of 40 should NOT be allowed to queue for AV

I'd like to be able to join with my buddies is all. Group of 5 max.
That said, the other battle grounds that allow you to dominate with a large group shouldn't match the premade with a collection of singles under any circumstance. If you want to join with 15, you gotta wait in the queue til another group of similar size joins. I'd like to see max groups of 5 across all of the BGs to promote a more fair playing field. Getting steamrolled by a premade in 3 minutes repeatedly is dumb. I don't even know if the last point is still valid anymore, or if something has since been changed. I quit playing those BGs a long time ago for these reasons.

Personally, I'd be happy if it was made so that you could only queue up with maybe 5 people max. Sometimes you just want to do a little pvp with some close friends, you know. The way it is now we have to queue up and cross our fingers hoping we get in the same AV together.

We need group queues if you are going to continue to not punish people that bot in the cave. Guess what? When they aren't at the keyboard flagging them for no honor half the time just means they make 50% as much without doing anything. I'm getting pretty tired of 10 of these retards in every av.
