Q u o t e:
As for Hawk Eye, I really think that is a core hunter ability, such as aimed shot, many folks will not be happy happy with the move, considered that BM now seems like a more viable build, and that folks still want aimed shot and Go for the Throat. In my opinion it would be best if it was moved back to MM or just made trainable, as it is a vital hunter ability.

Now go to the warrior forums and say this.

Q u o t e:
Blue.....any word on the leaked pet talent updates that were posted last week?

Is that real?

Also I like just about everything except moving Hawkeye.

Now you make me waste 8 points to get something almost every hunter needs.

Why not just make it a learned talent???

1. The pet abilities that have been "leaked" are pet abilities that have been in the database for at least 3 years now, but never went live because they were considerably overpowered. So, ignore those. More information on new pet types/abilities will come at a later time.

2. We moved Hawkeye in order to shift a meaningful talent from MM (which we felt had too many) to Survival (which we felt could use another).

3. It is a learned talent. You click the button in your talent pane, and you learn it. :P

First off, Thank you Kalgan for bringing this information to us. While talents and new abilites are nice, your hunter player base is more worried about the mechanics change that has been rumored forever now.

Q u o t e:

e. Most Hunter equipment has been updated to have a better distribution between +Attack Power bonuses and Agility.

We don't expect to see a listing of what items are getting what - but the largest concern are the Neck and Ring items.

Q u o t e:

Yes, a handfull of items that were not explicitly hunter-only but were clearly designed as "hunter items" with disproportionately high Agi values are having some of their stats shifted to AP (although they'll still be agi-heavy in general).

I would hope this would cover lower items as well - items seen out of ZG such as the Seal set, the AQ20 Hunter Quest Items, and other lower level items that aren't from the current 40 man raid setup. Yes this will get replaced as should all gear eventually, but going into BC the worry is how diminished we might end up due to some of these items not receiving a revamp unless their the top end raid stuff now.

Will rapid killing active when your group gets a kill, or only when you personally deal the killing blow?

Kalgan for president!

Thanks for all the info man. Not just the talents, but the above and beyond info about how our class will be played post-BC. I appreciate it.

Resourcefulness doesn't show the third point percentage. Is this undecided as to how much it is or just improperly place in the talent calculator?

What does this rapid killing mean tho. So i understand everytime we kill someone who gives honor or exp we get a 20% damage boost which will now go perfect with Misdirection and aimed shot to start off fights(aka trick attack sneak attack!), but lowers our rapid fire cooldown by 1 min? How is that going to work if we are killing lots of people or mobs quickly? Or is this an ability we cast

Q u o t e:

1. Yes, snakes are mobs that can be targeted. There are 6 to 10 snakes that come out of the trap (oh $h1%, we've got Snakes on a Trap!) and attack random targets within 10 yards of the trap.

2. The snakes do physical damage and apply random poisons (ie: mind numbing, crippling, and a deadly poison).

3. They don't do a lot of damage individually, but in total the damage is meaningful.

4. The snakes will chase the same distance mobs normally chase.

5. The snakes move at normal mob speed (although their victims may be affected by crippling poison).

Very nice! Thanks so much for describing the trap for us.

Can you tell us whether traps will continue to have limited utility in BC? Most bosses and trash mobs in instances are immune to traps, so hunters are essentially unable to take advantage of a core ability (and a third of the survival tree talents if they specced to boost traps) in MC, BWL, AQ, etc etc.

Is it a bug that you can not learn Readiness with more then 1 point in Master Tactician?

With these new changes to agility, I really do seen how a bit more crit and a bit more damage to range weapons makes up for an up to 45% RAP loss for many hunters.
While I'm sure we will be back to where we were AP wise with 61 talent points, my concern is that if the other buff given to us make up for this huge nerf. As right now it seems we need to have 61 points just to get back to where we were prenerf.

Q u o t e:

I think your a little confused. When you pop misdirection and then aimedshot crit for 3k, that 3k of hate goes to the tank and you gain NO HATE. If you have salv on, then you will only give 2k hate to the tank. It works for the next three shots. What is going to happen now, is at the start of the fight we wont have salv on, we will pop it one at a time and start with aimed shots. By the time the 3-4 hunters are done we will have got the tank another 15-20k hate on top of his other. All of that without taunting. And over that time we gain NO hate.

It also means that in 5/10 mans, a hunter can start dps immediately and open with the big stuff (AS/MS/Steady/etc.) and not only not risk pulling aggro from the tank, but actually *help* the tank gain aggro fast.

I suspect there will be endgame encounters with taunt-resistent mobs that will require hunters to do this just so that the tank can get enough threat to hold aggro, sort of a Tranq Shot part 2 in terms of hunter usefulness in raids.

I whole heartedly agree with you. The new marks tree is absolutly amazing. If hawk eye was in there, then everybody would got 0/61/0, and there would be no variation. It gives you a reason to put points in survival, and then you have a few more to spare to you go a little deeper into survival for deterrance.

Yes, rapid killing seems amazing if it can continuously reduce rapid fire cooldown, especially when farming green mobs for leveling. How often can it reduce the rapid fire cooldown by up to 5 minutes?

Q u o t e:
It was stated: "c. Steady Shot has been introduced as a core ability in the expansion, and provides much the same kind of gameplay as Aimed Shot did in the past (a shot you weave in between your normal shots), but to a much more managable degree (since it's a 1.5 sec shot, it doesn't require as slow of a weapon to take advantage of, and doesn't require to stand still for as long)."

100 damage for steady shot with a 1.5 second cast seems pretty weak in damage and a waste of mana, even if the target is dazed it will be for 275 dmg non crit. Are you basically making this the new arcane shot (an abil that is a waste of mana because it does very low damage)? 100 damage + bow damage would be nice. Or is that a misprint and its supposed to be something like 600 damage?

You are forgetting the 30% ap that becomes damage. IE, if your AP is 1400 then technically you are dealing 520 damage to a non-dazed target, not 100.

So though your assesment was incorrect. I agree though that this ability seems like utter crap and a waste of mana. I also agree with an above poster who points out that now the "Hunter Intended gear" that had extremely high agility being changed to agility AND ap is going to become an ubr pain in the ass to get away from those warriors who claim they need it more. Agility and AP help every melee class in this game as well as hunters. This was NOT a favor.

I am glad to see silence shot at the end of the marks tree as it was something I posted to the suggestion forums numerous times since beta but I have to say on the whole I am utterly dissappointed in this revamp. Most of these abilities and spells seem like utter crap on paper and I only hope they impress me in game play.

Likewise I will say what i did not see in skimming through this thread. WHY DO WE STILL HAVE A DEAD ZONE? Why the hell has this issue not been addressed? I guess being able to use traps in combat is the correction for this but lord knows I cannot wait till the BM Spec hunters trigger their new final ability and spend 10 of their 18 seconds trying to get away from the player or mob that is right on top of them.

I never condsidered myself adverse to change but this is a complete and utter let down to me.
