Being the first day of Season 3, with all the shiny new welfare epics, etc. etc. I would fully expect the populations for all realms to go up substantially.

The queues are because of the university holidays, all of the students have just finished their exams and are bored so are logging on to WoW when previously they were studying, nerf students imo!

PS: it will last over christmas and then get back to normal.

I will check.

I suppose that means you have a stay of execution of about 7 hours.

Your 7 hours are up. How'd we go?

I apologize, sometimes I get the timezones/realm types of the 210+ realms we have a little mixed up.

I will check.

what are you doing about the "short term" problem of about 30 DEAD servers?

why not merge a few and give oceanic their new realm?

(I admit I didn't check agamaggan last night but it hasn't "med" pop since you claimed it was 50% almost 2 months ago....) apologies if it wasn't you (i think it was though) I'm too lazy too look up the thread... although I may hit it with the "paddles" in a inute :)

Quite right!

Barthilas in no way could have had a 40 minute queue, within the past two weeks, on the nights of:

November 13, 15, 16, 19, 22, 23, 26.

So that's only half of the nights for two weeks that could even potentially have a queue anywhere near 40 minutes, and in those cases it's likely the wait was much shorter most of the time. Really though, it doesn't matter. If it looks like a continuing trend we'll take appropriate action.

They're all trapped in the system. Unbeknownst to them they're trapped with no glass.

The Authenicating servers?
The 1 hour odwn time from my casual playing time?

Otherwise i'll be taking it a few step's further
I pay to play
Not to wait
Not to get dc'd
Not cause of your lazyness

Exactly how much is Blizz supposed to refund you? The small fraction of a month that a half hour every few days equals? Or are they supposed to factor in how much your normally play? Bare in mind that should they go out on a limb like this for you they would have to do so for everyone and that's just burying them in needless busy work.

Or they could play the "Hey, remember that little thing you have to click past every time we patch the game? You know, the one that lists all the rules and regulations of our product? Yeah, it states in there that you will deal with whatever downtimes we have and we will compensate you only if and when we feel like it. Bare in mind that you have to agree to this in order to play the game, so by playing the game that means we can do this and we owe you nothing because of it."

I honestly think compensating players for this negligible downtime in the past was a mistake. It gives people the notion that Blizzard owes them something when they really don't.

Drysc,
Thanks for taking the time to look at this. So it's possible there's a 40 minute queue 50% of the time? Interesting. Note: I never claimed any particular length, just from observation re: high/locked statuses on the realm selector and extrapolated from that how poor it looks from a business point of view for servicing Blizz's Oceanic current customers - and also with regard to the 20 hour trials to attract new customers.

Whilst you don't say which trend you're going to keep an eye on (locked/queued, or increasing queue length), I'll try to remember to cast a casual eye over them. I do log in to my PvP toons over there occasionally, though admittedly just to test out stuff in Auctioneer so we have large datasets to work with. I had hoped to play these toons post 2.3 for the increased XP rate gain, for half an hour each evening. The queue thing does turn me off a little. It'd be interesting to know whether people attempt to hop onto a realm, see a queue, and then get out. I hope Blizz track that data as well.

Hugz 'n stuff,

Me.

Sunday night was the worst and I was stuck in queue for 51 minutes. It doesn't matter how long or how often, the fact remains that having to wait more than 15 minutes just to log in and play isn't on. This has been going on for a very long time on Barthilas and really needs to be fixed. Just yesterday there was a 24 minute queue...it's Wednesday.

It's not just Barthilas, though, and I hope Drysc maps this. From what I understand, overpopulation is a problem on 6 of the 8 realms (no, I can't recall which 2 aren't that bad - they're mentioned earlier in this thread, though)
