...so says amazon.co.uk. Is this true? I remember reading predictions for its release being late 2008, mid being the earliest.

It probably won't be out til next winter, I bet. But definitely not January 18. I don't even expect the Sunwell raid to be out by then, to be honest.

Vivendi in a press release indicated 1st half of 2008--announcements of that nature usually mean the very last day of the first half.

And Blizzard has in the past pretty much delayed any game they felt wasn't ready--missing holiday shopping season whenever the game wasn't done. So all dates are made up dates until Blizzard releases one.

They have been at a great feast of languages,
and stolen the scraps.

Which is more likely: Litch King is being released 5 different times or every chain video game store made up a date so they can take our money now?

Gamestop has it at November 3rd, 2007.

Actually if it follows the TBC timeline it will probably drop January 2009.

I know it's CRAZY. The game is coming out in 6 weeks, and no beta, no web site updates, NOTHING. I heard from a blue post that they haven't even decided final details about death knights or flying mounts in Northrend. GET ON THE STICK, BLIZZ! AMAZON SAYS JANUARY 18!

Yes it's true.

WotLK will be out before the sunwell so blizz doesn't make the same mistake with Naxx & TBC.

It's possible, but you really should trust dates provided by Blizzard. In the lack of such date from Blizzard, assume any other date is false. Especially if it's coming from a retailer who cannot sell you a prerelease without there being a date of release.

Trend analysis time: TBC was announced at Blizzcon in 10/2005 and released in January of 2007, a fourteen month window. Wrath of the Lich King was announced at Blizzcon in 8/2007, three months ago.

Considering 2.4 is coming out before WotLK and it hasnt hit the PTR yet there's really no chance at a January 2008 release of the expansion. They haven't even started a beta yet (as far as I know), and the BC beta lasted a good long while.
