And it's absolutely sad.

Below you'll find SS's of Biomojo speaking with <GM> Besselthen.
As a 'Lock in the former #1 2v2/3v3 team in the Nightfall BG before transferring, I find this absolutely disgusting.
All of the legitimate teams in EVERY are being shoved aside by teams which exploit the Arena system by "smurfing," or trading wins.

Look and be disgusted; here's the script:

<GM>[Besselthen]I definitely see the technique you have assembled for this. And I am going to be honest... I am impressed. Personally I do not see anything wrong with this Biomojo. Being number 1 is being number 1:)
Biomojo: <3
<GM> [Besselthen] To be honest Biomojo. Everybody sitting next to me is really impressed :)
Biomojo: why?
*breaks off, not sure what was said*
<GM> [Besselthen] You are so welcome.
<GM> [Besselthen] (In reference to Biomojo's "why?") Because your technique is 100% awesome :P
Biomojo: :O
Biomojo: <3<3

For a bit of a backround, Biomojo is the most notorious smurfer of the Vengeance BG. He had hit Rank 1 in every bracket using this method not long ago, though he now intends to transfer to Magtheridon. As such, he's now selling points to the highest bidder, as it's an effective method of lining his pockets.

Here's a few other SS's of his exploits.

Blizzard, please save yourselves the trouble and just rename the <Merciless Gladiator> to <Papa Smurf>.

Creative use of in-game mechanics, save exploitation.

Working as intended.

If you can't beat em, join em.

SMURFING IS NOT A WIN TRADING TERM.

FAIL

Win trading should be fixed for season 3 however. Not necessarily fixed but if caught a permaban and deletion of character if found guilty.

All conventional BUFF. The treatment group and the mastersmeets needs to tremble the totem and the protection frightened knot.

I love getting geared down by bad arena players.

Smurfing came from RTS games with ratings. It was when a player who was very high end would start a new name and and just destroy people who were at the lower point levels.

It was called smurfing because this clan on Warcraft 3 called themselves smurfs and they and they did it repeatedly and it kinda caught on because they were very vocal about it.

Clearly it is my awesome racials that allow horde to glide effortlessly to free bg wins.

OP is misusing the term "smurfing".
What he wants to say is "win trading", in his case with your own secondary team - one side loses on purpose to boost the other.
"Smurfing" really refers to people remaking a team , or making an alt team to play lower ranked teams to win with ease. While they did smurf their alt team to higher ranks, I don't think that's what the OP is complaining about, but rather that their secondary team win traded their main team to put them #1 with ease.

If I understand correctly, "smurfs" is what you called experienced players in WC3 who would leave behind their old records, make a new screen name, and play games versus newer players for fun or to have a high win percentage.

(Not taking sides here)

The comparison he's drawing is that high rated groups are essentially leaving their old teams, starting new ones, easily reaching their old rating, and then (though this last part does not exactly mean "smurfing") beating their old team in some matches for easy rating.

edit: what those two guys said.

People, look at OP's name. Op jumps around on different teams liek he has crabs in his pants., Its for me to believe you just aren't as good as him at trading from the looks of it.All your teams have many members jumping all over the place, which is also suspicious because thats what win trader teams armorys look like with 20 members.

The reason that I've got a small # of teams played in some of my brackets is because I *recently* x-fer'd to the Vengeance BG.

During our stay in the Nightfall BG, Jaguarinsito and myself were the #1 team BY FAR legitimately. Not saying Warlock/Resto Druid is amazingly intense, but we were better than any of the other teams out there at the time.

Now we're doing the same in our current BG- grinding it up there- but the rampant win trading is making it impossible to play competitively at the high end of Arena. Don't get me wrong; Jag and I will be up past 2500 legit in a day or so. However, unless we can catch the smurfers in the act (unlikely, unless we queue 24/7), we're cheated of our Merciless title.

The thing that angers me is this: Back about 3 months ago (before I took a break), <Nerf Druids>, our 2's team, had hit 2584 legitimately. This, of course, was back when having a 2250 team meant you were rank 1, and we were almost 300 points higher than the rest of our BG's players. The win/loss ratio was somewhere around 79-1, yet the very same scrubs whom I recall winning against are now win trading all the way up to Merciless. Granted, my partner and myself aren't in the Nightfall BG anymore, but still...

Nothing can be done to prevent this blatant exploitation of the Arena system.

If "Fear" and "Deathcoil" are cheap, then I am the Wendy's dollar menu.
