I don't understand how there was such a problem with double trapping that it had to be stealth nerfed?

All it ever did was help groups better contain large pulls in 5 mans, and I have never heard anyone complain about it.

So, what gives?

I was just about to get to this one. This was another bug fix that unintentionally didn't get into the patch notes. It's getting added in now in order to clear up the confusion. Here is how the note actually reads:


• Fixed a bug in which Hunters were able to use Readiness in conjunction with Freezing Trap on two different targets.


Being able to double-trap was not intended to happen so the bug has been corrected. As always though, constructive feedback on changes are always welcome. What should happen is if you trap another target, the first trap should release much like what happens when a Priest Shackles Undead or a Mage Polymorphs a target.


I don't really look at myself as the kind of person who craves attention, but I've never been to therapy so there's probably a lot of stuff about myself that I don't know.

For what reason was this done?

Readiness resets everything, by removing this ability you've weakened a large portion of the ability.

So...you are making traps targeted and instant casts then?..with no arming time?...and no need to physically move the target to the trap?

I would presume these changes should also be included as all of these are obviously bugs as well.

I would understand this change if Traps weren't

1. Harder to use than other CC methods and

2. On a 30 second CD

My feedback is this: I don't like this change and believe it was totally unwarrented.

Fine, you consider it a bug fix. Could you then ask the dev's exactly what the heck the point of the readiness talent is again? Because double trapping was its one and only use.

Im so glad they are bringing our CC on balance with other cc's.

While you are at it, why don't you finish the job and remove CD on them.

Just a thought.

it can be used for back to back Rapid Shots as well...and saving your ass if your FD fails..or if you need misdirection again...due to what ever reason.. (Ex: WE are Pulling....WAIT!!!)

This was one of the few reasons I'd get invited to the occasional heroic.

What is the point of readiness, I thought this was widely considered one of the bigger benefits.

well put...

so speccing 41pts into survival was just for "trap insurance"? We can only use it incase of the 1st trap resisting? rather than effectively using those pts to provide more CC?

hell I'm glad I converted BM a long time ago - only thing broken is weapon speed itemization

Double trapping has been in the game since launch. It's not even just with readiness. It's with timing and precision.

Please give us double traps back. There are too many limits on our C as it is.

If we can't have double traps make wyvern sting a 1min duration with no CD an no dot

well, poor survival hunters. all the more reason not to spec in sv.

in my opinion traps, at least ice traps, should have the same cooldown as intercept.

im serious. very serious. i mean come on, cyclone, sheep for infinity (for the duration of an arena)?

Noted. I'll be keeping an eye on these threads and will expand their capacity just so that I can pull feedback from them. Please keep it constructive.

I'd rather they just made them unresistable again.

This being a "bug fix" is understandable, but in the end it's a signifigant decrease to the power of traps in general and traps combined with readiness especially. For the cost of requiring us to pull the mob across the trap, and the long cooldown we gained the ability to CC universally and trap more then one mob at a time.

Please neth, ask the devs if they could look into traps again. If their going to take something that's been pretty central to traps away it feels like they should add something back in. Traps are under-utilized in many aspects of the game already (raiding, soloing, specific traps in PvP).

Personally, I'd like to see traps unresistable, both in their initial application and their "per time" resist check. The long cooldown on traps makes our CC different from everyone else's and I personally like that, but also means that we cannot simply take 1.5 seconds and re-apply the CC effect.

A lowering of cooldowns or a splitting of traps onto separate cool downs would work too, but that brings us closer to everyone else's cc styles and homogamy (I hope that's the right spelling) is boring.

Feedback:

Hunter CC is the most unreliable in the game, due to ability to resist a trap and the long CD for traps. Since the case going forward is inability to double trap, then to put some respect back in this form of CC change the CD on it down (or better yet put frost and freezing traps on different CDs and allow both to be up without issue) both being used together might bring some respect to our CC again... maybe.
