Feedback was read, gathered and the designers are fully aware of all that you've provided. As a result, we're making an adjustment to the talent so instead of seeing this morning's version of focused will in the next PTR push, you'll see:

"After taking a critical hit you gain the Focused Will effect, reducing all damage taken by 1/3/5% and increasing healing effects on you by 4/7/10% for 6 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times."

First

Very Quick Resilience Primer -

There seems to be a lot of concern that this talent will become useless as resilience is increased. This notion is based on the false belief that talents that require you to be crit will not proc if your resilience is high enough to eliminate crits altogether.

The way resilience and on-crit talents actually work is this:

Q u o t e:
The game doesn't actually know that hit would have been a critical hit if not for resilience. Instead we've added a small chance to activate off non-crits based on resilience gear. Each ability rolls this chance separately, so they will only occur together if a player is very lucky.

Thus, as your resilience becomes higher your chance (described simply as "small" by Drysc) of proccing these talents off of normal hits will increase. The ultimate effect of this is that gaining resilience will not in any way hinder usage of talents like Focused Will or Blessed Resilience.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion.

Concerns for Blizzard (from posters below)

Duration: 6 seconds feels short. Is there any magic behind this number?

Slow swinging warriors are as devastating, if not more, as fast swinging rogues, and this talent will be necessarily worse against them.

We understand fully that this game isn't designed around 1v1, however, the realities of Arena PvP have to be taken into account and while this talent will be absolutely amazing for 5v5, it feels like the 6 second duration may be less than stellar in 2v2 and, to a lesser degree, 3v3.

Calculation Mechanics: While I'm sure player testing can figure this one out, are healing debuffs taken into account before or after this latest iteration of Focused Will? If after, is this an intended effect?

There's a major difference between having Focused Will added to your healing benefits and THEN having a healing debuff applied and having the healing debuff applied AND THEN having Focused Will applied.

Scenario 1: (100+30) * .5 = 65% healing
Scenario 2: 100 * .5 + 30 = 80% healing.

Want more concerns about THIS SPECIFIC TALENT in this post? Send me an IM at yonbeast or post in a coherent fashion below.

<3 you all.

Remember! When you pull aggro your tanks will be very mad at you and you should run as far away from them as possible!

Nice improvement, I'd prefer no stacking, but I'm not going to kick a gift horse in the mouth :)

(did i butcher that saying?)

Wanted to add that for an "on crit" activated ability that has to stack 6 seconds feels a little short.

I'm still a little concerned about the 6 second 'window' but definitely testing is in order to truly see how it functions. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of this being a valid replacement for Blessed Resilience though.

Almost there Eyonix... just bump the duration up to 8-10 seconds and we'll have it!

Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I said 'goodbye', and you were like 'NO WAY'? And then I was all 'We pretended we were going to murder you'.

That was great.

Thats great that you guys are improving it, but as stated earlier, its more or less, that with 350+ resil, getting crit enough times in 6 seconds to see that full buff, is unpractical. And...please make it undispellable

Nice.

Now if we can get an 8 second duration instead of 6, I think it's solid.

I was pushing for 12 seconds but I think 8 will suffice if it only needs to stack to 3.

YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS

And,Eyonix ,6 sec is far too short for a stackable talent only stacks when crits landing

Come on,is it overpowerd that only 2 or 4 more sec longer duration of this talent?

definitely not imo

Very cool, Eyonix! Thanks so much for letting us know.

And I concur with the thought that if this can get pushed up to 8-10 seconds from 6, I wouldn't have a single complaint left. We'll see how 6 works out on the PTR.

Eyonix, thanks very much for the change.
It's good to see a blue taking care of my the class I love most !!

Now~ a bit of a complaint here: is it possible to change the name ?
I believe we've got too many talents with the word 'Focus' or 'Concentration' spread across all 3 trees.

*edit:
So far we've got:
- Shadow Focus
- Focused Mind
- Healing Focus
- Inner Focus
- Focused Power
- Holy Concentration

Cheers.

So is this correct:

3 stacks of this buff would take you to healing effect on you to 110%, but if you have MS, Aimed shot, fully dotted wound poison you would receive healing for 55%?

I would still like it changed to 1/3/5% chance when crit to be immune to next physical dmg. 1 charge dispellable buff.

Too bad it should've have been "After being hit you have a 15/30/45% chance to gain the Focused Will effect, reducing all damage taken by 1/3/5% and increasing healing effects on you by 4/7/10% for 6 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times."

130% if you have all 3 points, and its stacked 3 times.

Also, is there any word on exactly how the 30% healing increase stacks with Mortal Strike effects? It's been assumed it would be multiplicative (so essentially 65% healing when MS'd with 3 stacks of Focused Will up), but we are kind of hoping that it's additive.

But thanks for reducing the charges. It definitely has more potential now.

That will be almost perfect. I just did a WSG and half an AV (before the test realm went down) and I have to say I actually like the talent even ith 5 charges. If it was me 1v1 or 1v2 the 5 charges were ok. With an assist train of 4 or 5 on me it really sucked. Could just be the BGs but with hunters getting dispel now as well the charges got stripped off mighty fast.

My only concern with the 3 charges is they'll come off even faster but I guess we'll see. I do have to say though, the short duration means that ou have to either stand and get beat on to heal or run and by the time you get away you're out of time to heal. I wish there was a way to make it so that if it stacked to max you got twice the time or 50% more time or something. You know, to reward you for living through that longenough to get a heal off.

Can't wait to try the new version though. I think the 3 procs just might make this perfect for disc. A technique I found useful was waiting for 3/5 charges and then casting pain supression to keep them from getting dispelled while I healed. Again, this may change with only 3 charges now but it seemed to be working pretty well.

Thanks for the disc love.

EDIT: also let me say this talent makes disc priests a LOT more resistant to dispell effects since they have to eat through this too. I really like it. I just hope the 3 charges doesn't change that too much.
