I remember a blue post saying that you only need the 1850 (or 2000 for shoulders) rating to buy arena weapons (and you don't need to keep that rating), but the new items say "Requires a personal rating of 1850," suggesting that you need to maintain that personal rating.

No news regarding a change to the policy that I've seen. There's a rating requirement to buy only as far as I know.

the requirement is to buy the weapon/armor
it would be stupid, say you were hovering around 1850, bought your weapon, then you lost a game went to 1835, now you cant use your weapon?? would make no sense and would be unfair

It's like the old Rank 14 grind. Once you hit Grand Marshal or HWL, just buy the gear and you're done from there.

Funny, that is how the honor ranking system USED to work. ;) Lose your rank, lost your ability to wear or equip items.

The rating is required at the time of purchase only.

Oh thank god. And don't try to pretend like at one time it wasn't mentioned that rating may be required to wear the item, 'cause it was. But that made me sad, so this makes me happy!
