Honestly, I don't remember the last time I installed it. For all I know (cause I'll admit I didn't read it...my fault) it says it on the download page in big bold letters to install it from the WoW Directory. I'll give it a shot though.
I almost want to run a diff on the diffs to see what the changes were.
Live or die trying.
It seems mages were saving more money than originally intended. Any money saved will now be reduced by 10% and will break Frost Nova.
Q u o t e: I dl'ed it and installed it. When I looked at some of the toc files they show interface number 20200. Is that right? I was expecting to see 20300.
The files are extracted both in the WoW directory and the test directory, if you've installed the public test realm version. Did you look in that latter directory?

Q u o t e: Stupid question: What is the Interface AddOn Kit and why would I want it? What does it allow me to do?
The Interface Addon Kit extracts the .lua and .xml files that describe the stock WoW user interface, allowing you to examine them and determine how the UI works, thereby making it easier to modify correctly. It does not, in itself, help you to create code, textures, or other UI elements, but designing a working UI component is extremely difficult without access to the information it shows you.

I tried installing the Interface AddOn kit once and got the same error. I assumed it's because my installation was not installed. I had copied my install over to a different hard drive and reinstalled windows and just kept using my old install. No sense in spending two hours installing wow, the burning crusade, downloading patches, ect...
I think that the Interface AddOn kit looks for specific registry entries created when WoW is properly installed from the disks.
If thats the case a couple of ways to fix it.
1. Reinstall the game (ouch).
2. Get someone who's able to install the Interface AddOn kit, and have them export their wow related registry entries. Edit the registry file to match your paths and run it to integrate the changes into your registry.
Of course, that will only work if that is in fact the reason why the installer fails with that message.
